Communities are created when a group of individuals share a common

value or when they are situated in a given geographical area (e.g. village or
town). In the same way, individuals are molded and developed in these
communities; wherein their beliefs, values, traditions, and the like are
influenced by the people around them. In human society, it is common for an
individual to be part of many different communities. However; some of these
communities have completely opposite or different perspectives from one
another and could therefore lead to conflict. An example of these conflicting
ideals are spiritual beliefs such as Christianity and Islam.
It is therefore important that we respect each others individual beliefs
to avoid conflicts. The ISIS crisis is a prime example of what happens if 2
different communities do not respect the others viewpoint. This conflict has
resulted to the death of many Christians, and the discrimination against
Muslims. Another example would be family feuds. If 2 families dont get
along very well, fights can lead to law suits and the like. Fights for land area
and inheritance are common conflicts among families.
Peace is always desired in society, but conflicts are part of human
relations and is thus impossible to remove. The resolution to this problem is
not to remove conflict, but to reduce its effects. Respect is the key element
in solving this problem, and it starts with the individual. It is important that
even though we have relationships with people with different beliefs and
viewpoints, we must be open-minded enough to accept them. It is possible
for a Muslim, Christian, Filipino, Chinese, Black and White American to be
friends if those individuals were to learn to respect each other. Different
ideals make for a culturally diverse human society.
