of XDA,
For those who are new to World Of Tweaking/Hacking/Messing of Your X10i, please read this
carefully!!! Because if you are unaware that what are you doing, or even with single tiny mistake,
your phone might face serious consequences such as below:
1.Phone May Not Boot (StartUp) -_-zzzzzz
2.Crash/Force Close in Certain Functions or Apps Like WiFi, Hotspot, and etc. >_<|||
3.Bricked O_O!!!!!

SO, before you start/do anything of XDA to your X10, make sure you did your
revision/homework/research ;)
When i was new in XDA, i was also like you, kinda nervous and worried. But Until now, im still able to
maintain my X10 working in my daily life. Heres my experience and neccesary knowledge i would like
to share/explain/recommend for you all.
1.

ROOTING Rooting Your Phone enable many functions or adjustments/tweaking

within your phone Operating System or core by installing Something Called ROOT.LOL. Okay,
lame jokes over. Rooting provides ability to alter/edit/replace your phone system
applications and settings, run specialized apps that require administrator-level
permissions(called root access/permission), or perform other operations that are otherwise
inaccessible to a normal Android user. I know that some apps like Androot, UniversalRoot
allows rooting in phone, but not all versions are supported for that. So, Stable Permanent
Rooting for X10 ONLY can Be Conducted In Computers Application Called Flashtool. Many
Versions of Flashtool have existed in XDA, but Some of them still have problems/coding
error/bugs within them.

But if you curious about which flashtool or version i have used succesfully in my experience, im
very delightful to share it with ya.
But first before i tell you, make sure you have fulfilled certain requirements [Check in
Setting>About Phone] for rooting method that i will be recommending:
*Android Version 2.3.3 (MUST BE OFFICIAL 2.3.3 GINGERBREAD BY SONY!!! ONLY CAN BE updated
Via SONY PC COMPANION in PC. REMEMBER TO DO THIS FIRST BEFORE ROOTING as i am, MY
friends!!)
*Baseband 2.1.71
*Official SONYs Kernel (2.6.29-0054-g5f01537 SEMCUser@SEMCHost#1)
*Build Version 3.0.1.G.0.75
*X10i FlashMode successfully Installed in Computer

There will be 2 video tutorials when you scroll down the link/thread.
One is for ROOTING, while another one is for INSTALLING XRECOVERY. Of course, there are also
flashtools provided for rooting. There will be 2versions of flashtool.: Azuzus and DooMLoRDs
Pure Patched FlashTool_0.2.9.1-GBready_root_xRec(I used DooMLoRDs). Watch the tutorials
and follow its instructions carefully if you dont wanna make a single mistake.

2.

FLASHING Flashing is method of replacing/installing/overwriting new

Kernel/Baseband/ROM into your X10. Many reasons that flashing is needed for rooted phone
like:
*[ESSENTIAL TO KNOW]Downgrade/Upgrade Kernel in order to enabling ROOTING,
UNLOCKING BOOTLOADER
*[ESSENTIAL TO KNOW]Installing Recovery in order to install Custom/Non-Official ROMs or
for noobs, called New Software, In future use. :P
*[CAN LEARN THIS LATER, NO HURRY]Fixing Wifi bugs in order to work in Custom ROMs
*[CAN LEARN THIS LATER, NO HURRY]Increasing Phones performance in IT term of
Overclocking
*Restore Original Built-In Kernel, Baseband which is as same as the previous phone version
when you bought your X10.

3. Little bit info

ROM (explained more in next post): ROM stands for Read-Only-Memory,

generally known as Operating System(OS) for our phone to work normally. ROM falls in 2
categories:

*STOCK ROM Means Original,Default,Remained Untouched ROM which typically provided

by Phone Branded Companies like SONY,Apple, and etc. In other words, is the software you
got from the beginning you bought and activated your X10. :D Its update Can be obtained
from Sony Official PC Companion.
*CUSTOM ROM Means Tweaked, ROM Made by independent developers which is not
binded to Phone Companies. Can be downloaded from forums (like Here :D XDA) Most
Custom ROMs are moderately tweaked for enhancing speed, sensitivity and allowing Plugins
from SONY itself like BRAVIA Engine, Xloud Support, or other HTCs Beats Audio and so on.

4.

RECOVERY ALERT THAT Recovery can be only Installed after your X10 successfully
rooted!!!!So if some people said i installed Xrecovery even not rooted, please bear this in
your mind that Its 1000% MI (Mission Impossible, WONT WORK!!). Recovery is an
Application for installing custom ROM, and updates in .zip file format. AND ONLY CAN BE
OPENED AFTER ROOTED and Installed Xrecovery. In XDA, you will see 2types of common
recoveries:

ClockWorkMod(CWM) and Xrecovery. Typically, CWM widely used in higher field which is for
Unlock Bootloaded X10. But now, lets just focus Xrecovery first, which is for us newbies which
having locked Bootloaded X10 (Meaning of Locked/Unlocked Bootloaded will be explained later).
Certain Commands included in recoveries.

Reboot Phone (Restart)

Install Update.zip from sd card (not Used normally)
Factory Reset /FullWipe (Clear All Users Data in ROM and reset into default
settings)
Wipe Cache Partition
Install Custom Zip (Used to flash/install custom/new ROM and its addon/update files from SD Card)
Backup and Restore (Used to backup/restore your Current/previous ROM
and data in Nandroid format.)
Advanced Options
-> Wipe Dalvik Cache
-> Fix Permission
-> Wipe Battery Status
->Report Error
