DBQ Essay
The years after the French and Indian war (1763), started a change in the friendship
between the American colonies and Great Britain. Many events occurred in which caused
anger between these two groups. The American colonists found themselves locked in a
cold and violent period of warfare known as the American Revolution.
The American Revolution was a true revolution because it led to dramatic political
changes. In the Treaty of paris (document 1) great britain acknowledges the United State
as free and independent. This treaty was also settled disputes between Great Britain and
the united states. this treaty was not only revolutionary because not only did it end the
revolutionary war, but it also turned the colonies into an independent nation. Therefore the
Treaty of Paris was a major political change because it made Britain step down from
control of the colonies and gave america its independence
The American Revolution was a true revolution because it led to dramatic social
changes. In (document 3) it mentioned that society transformed after the end of the war.
there was much more equality. Historians believe that this was one of the most sudden
changes to happen in history. America was one of the first colonies to rebel against their
mother countries, which in this case Great Britain. Therefore the radicalism of the american
revolution was a major social change because it helped a social change because it helped
spread equality throughout the nation.
In conclusion the American revolution was a true Revolution because it led to many
dramatic social and political changes. In comparison to other revolutions such as the
French Revolution they are very similar. Although the french revolution was fighting against
its own country, it still has the same message. They had not only one revolution but two and
they were fighting against their all too powerful kings.
