The Spanish empire weakened due to many reasons.

The empire faced many difficulties for their economy
decline because of the decisions Phillips had made. He
was a person who is not open minded with other
religions rather than Catholicism, he made a decision to
drive out followers of other religion from Spain without
realizing that these people were the one actually
earning money. Phillip also increased the taxes of
Netherland which the Netherlands revolted and caused
him to lose power over them. From that, they fought
for independence.

Another reason was also because of buying product from

Spains enemies causing them to be richer since they do
not have in the supplies needed. Because of decision he
made and actions he took, he believed he could rule
over everything. Without realizing that all his decisions
was main cause why Spain was weakening and he was
not able to control his weakening empire.
