Brass Instruments: valve/slide oil, slide grease, cleaning snake, mouthpiece brush, pencil
Other Supplies
All students are expected to have the following items for class each day:
Instrument, Pencil, Music, Assigned Books, Planner, Flip folder
Lessons
Every week/other week students will be required to attend one 20 minute individual lesson. This lesson will take place either during a
students study hall time, during lunch, or before/after school. Student progress will be tracked for each lesson, and students will be
expected to complete goals discussed with the teacher. Progress throughout lessons will impact the final assessment grade for the
lesson cycle. If a student must miss a lesson for an appointment or illness, a make-up lesson may be scheduled with Mrs. Mueller at
no penalty. If a student fails to reschedule an excused lesson, it will be counted as an unexcused lesson. A student may have one
unexcused lesson per quarter without penalty. If a student has a second unexcused lesson, a detention will be given to the student.
Make-up lessons must be completed before the next lesson, or an additional detention will be given.
Private Lessons
If students are taking private lessons, they are not required to sign up for a bi-weekly lesson time. Private lesson students will only be
required to schedule and complete assessments. Lesson progress will not be accounted for within the final assessment grade, since no
progress was tracked with Mrs. Mueller. A student taking private lessons is encouraged to participate in lessons at school as well.
Performances
Attendance at performances is required. Concert, Marching, and required Pep Band performances are excused for family
emergency or illness only. Students must turn in a written excuse from a parent prior to the performance event for non-emergency
situations. In case of an emergency, parents may call 564-2346 x1155 or email at rebekah.mueller@oostburg.k12.wi.us. If a written
excuse or phone call is not submitted for the performance, the student will be considered unexcused and the performance.

Pep Band performances require students to attend a minimum of 1 football game (in addition to homecoming), 3 boys basketball
games, and 3 girls basketball games. Additional Pep Band games attended will be applied towards the students letter. JV athletes in
respective sports will be required to participate in Pep Band performances after they are showered. JV athletes practicing during
another varsity game, varsity athletes of the performing event, and dance team members will be excused from Pep Band performances
of their respective sport. In these cases, no points will be awarded towards a band letter.
Expectations for each performance will be: arriving to the event before call time, proper dress attire, proper materials, and professional
behavior at all events. If an expectation is not met, the students grade for the event will be affected.
*If any Pep Band performances are needed for the regional, sectional, or state levels, students are strongly encouraged, but not required to participate. Extended season
play is a great opportunity to show school spirit and support our athletic teams. Students should make every effort to attend extended season play.

Dress Etiquette
MARCHING- Each student will be assigned to a marching uniform that will be worn for most marching performances and other
selected performances. Students will also be assigned a marching band polo shirt. This polo shirt will be used throughout high school
and is expected to be returned at the end of a students career in the band. Polo shirts should be washed in cold water and hung to dry.
If the marching polo is returned damaged or is lost, a $25 fee will be required to purchase another marching polo. Marching polos
will be worn with all-black pants (not issued by the school). Solid black shoes and black socks should be worn for all marching
performances and should be durable and comfortable to march in.

purchased, but they are encouraged.
