1. RESPECT: Students will be expected to communicate and behave in a way that shows respect for the teacher and for fellow classmates, both inside and outside of the classroom. No whining, excessive sarcasm, mocking, or attitude will be permitted in the classroom. Students will learn the difference between arguing and fighting. Students should also respect themselves by not putting themselves or their work down and by being examples of the model student. Students will also be expected to respect the property of others such as the school, fellow classmates, or the teacher. Students will be expected to follow school rules and procedures, as well as specific classroom instructions given by the teacher. 2. PARTICIPATION: This class will often be structured as a workshop, which means that students will be expected to get involved with class discussions and activities. Participation is NOT OPTIONAL. The more involved the class members are in the learning process, the more fun and rich the learning experience will be, not to mention its a part of the students grade. 3. BE PREPARED: Students should bring their books on a daily basis, even if they think they dont need it. Unexpected circumstances can arise and assignments can change. Students should also have the following on a daily basis: pen of blue or black ink (other colors will not be accepted on assignments), a notebook specifically designated for this class, a folder specifically designated for this class and loose leaf paper. Any other materials will be requested by the teacher on an assignment by assignment basis. Assignments are not to be done in pencil unless specified by the teacher. Consistent lack of preparation will result in a loss of participation points. 4. HARD WORK: The goal of this course is to help students learn. However, this goal will not be achieved without a lot of hard work on the part of the teacher and on the part of the students. Students will be expected to work hard on all in-class and out-of-class assignments, producing a final product that is as close to BEST as possible. Mediocrity will not be rewarded in this classroom. 5. Tardiness: The classroom door will be shut when the bell rings. Any student who comes to class after the door has been shut must have either and excuse from the office or a note from a faculty member in order to be admitted. 6. Absence: Students are responsible to determine what work is due for each class period that they are present. If you are absent, you may contact a friend, e-mail Mrs. Crane or check Edline to access this information. Students who are absent only one day will be expected to turn all work in the day they return. After an extended absence, students will have three days to make up missed work. Work turned in after three days have passed will receive a grade reduction. All such make-up exams and assignments are to be scheduled by the students with the teacher. It is not up to the teacher to make sure all make-up work is completed. 7. 3 Strikes Youre Out Policy: Students will receive two warnings for in-class misbehavior and then will be ejected from the classroom after the third offense. Ejection will result in a detention and parental contact. 8. Cheating: A new cheating policy has been adopted for the entire school. It is in your handbook. Please become familiar with it. 9. Dress Code: Its in your handbook. Please follow it at all times.
