GENERAL AIMS OF THE TEST:
1. To give the teacher and the students information concerning the students
progress;
2. To indentify any areas of difficulty and weakness which might need
remedial work;
3. To give the teacher feedback on the effectiveness of her teaching;
4. To give the students additional motivation to study thoroughly.
SPECIFIC GOALS OF THE TEST:
Grammar
To have Ss complete a text with the present continuous forms of the verbs in
brackets (affirmative or negative);
To match questions answers using the verb can
To have Ss circle the correct possessive pronouns and adjectives
Vocabulary
To have Ss give direction using prepositions of place.
To have Ss complete names of countries and nationalities in a table.
To have Ss circle in sentences the correct words vocabulary the Ss have
studied in Units 1-3, possessive pronouns and adjectives

Reading
To have Ss read a text-an e-mail to a friend- and fill in the suitable words
given in a table.
Writing
To have Ss write a short e-mail, based on an e-mail given in Ex.VI.
To have Ss use the verbs to be and have got and vocabulary related to
personal description.
SCORES:
I Vocabulary (22 marks): I. two marks for each correct preposition of place or
location(8 times x 2 marks = 16 marks in total); II. 6 mark for each country or
nationality (6 names of countries/nationalities x 1 mark = 6 marks);
II Grammar (28 marks): I. two marks for each correct form of the verbs (8
verbs x 2 marks = 16 marks); II. 12 marks for each word correctly circled (12 words
x one mark = 12 marks)
III Grammar / Reading (20 marks): I. one mark for each correct word filled in
from the table (8 x 1 mark = 8 marks); II. two marks for each question correctly
matched (6 questions x 2 marks = 12 marks).
IV - Writing: 10 marks, distributed as follows:
2 marks content and style;
0.5 mark layout and organization;
3 mark vocabulary;
3.5 marks grammar;
1 mark spelling and punctuation
20 marks granted
