Our La Sallian Heritage goes back to the 17th century, in France to a brilliant
wealthy young man, John Baptist De La Salle, a man who was willing to give
up all his wealth, privileges and comforts to realize his dreams and
aspirations of educating the children of the less fortunate. The story of the
Brothers in Malaysia reveals the dedication of people of many races and of
different cultures that laboured to establish a network of schools noted for
quality education. At all times, the Brothers most carefully watched over the
morals of the students, whatever their religious persuasion may be. Education
was for the last, the lost and the least.

The added value that we have today is that students from all over Malaysia
have joined us as part of the Johannian family under the Asrama 1 Malaysia

Moving on to the highlight of todays celebration, - a forum. The panellist of

this forum will consist of former teachers of St Johns Institution.

To get the forum going, may I now call upon Arjun a/l Thanaraju to join me as
the Moderator of the forum.
(Arjun and Cheah take their seats at the single sofa chairs. Pengawas Siaraya will
hand out mikes to Arjun and Cheah)
Thank you, Cheah,
To quote, Br. George Van Grieken FSC, the things that John Baptist de La
Salle did were not amazing building projects, impressive miracles, or rousing
speeches. He wouldnt have been on the front page of the newspaper, or be
mentioned in a blog, or be a singing sensation, or be part of a famous sports
star. Instead, John Baptist de La Salle became famous because he did
something that each one of us can do. He decided how he wanted to live his
life, what kind of person he wanted to be, and then he followed those
decisions.
The educational innovations made by John Baptist de La Salle were not
welcomed by the educators of his day. Since their beginnings, Lasallian
schools have indeed been different. This is most apparent in the teachers
themselves teachers who have a true concern for the student as a whole
person, teachers who demonstrate that the Twelve Virtues of a Good Teacher,
defined by De La Salle in 1717, are alive and well. In the Lasallian heritage, the
students learn much more than academic subjects; they develop the ability to
think and act independently and as members of a larger society. They become
part of a heritage that declares, enter to learn, learn to serve. So, this morning,
we have in our midst invited guests who have served as teachers in St Johns.

kita pada hari ini. Para tetamu dijemput untuk sesi bergambar bersama- sama
barisan pentadbir di Tarmac. Kepada semua pelajar yang terlibat dalam
persembahan dijemput juga untuk sesi bergambar di Tarmac. Selepas sesi
bergambar dijemput semua tetamu kehormat ke bilik BOG untuk menikmati
jamuan. Sementera itu guru-guru dijemput ke bilik guru untuk menikmati
