ALCOHOL TESTING PROCEDURE


1.

PURPOSE
To set the standard procedure for testing an employee, contractor, client truck driver or visitor for intoxication.

SCOPE
This procedure is applicable to all employees, contractors, client truck drivers and visitors.

DEFINITIONS

Intoxication: A state in which a person's normal capacity to act or reason is inhibited by alcohol or drugs.
Breathalyzer: A device that tests exhaled breath to indicate the amount of alcohol in the body.

PROCEDURE
Employees:

Employees may be subjected to a breathalyzer test at random and as frequent as determined by the employer.
The employee must blow into the breathalyzer instrument available on site.
Only employees testing negative (safe green light) will be allowed to work.
Employees testing positive (warning orange light or fail red light) will not be allowed to enter the work area.

These employees will be confined to the office / security guard house and be re-tested after 30 minutes
in the presence of an employee representative (shop steward).

If the employee test positive (warning orange light or fail red light) after 30 minutes, he / she will be
re-tested after another 30 minutes in the presence of an employee representative (shop steward).

If the employee test positive (warning orange light or fail red light) again, the employee will be taken
to an accredited lab for blood alcohol testing.

Contact Working Knowledge International (medical service supplier) for a Lab (Lancet) referral form.

Working Knowledge International will email the Lab (Lancet) referral form which must go with the
employee to the nearest Lab (Lancet).

At the Lab (Lancet), blood will be drawn from the employee for blood alcohol level testing.

The results will be send to WKInt, which in turn will forward the results to Raumix Aggregates.

The employee may not return to work untill the following work day when the results should be available.
On receiving the blood alcohol level results, the employee and the employee representative (shop steward) must
be notified of the results and the disciplinary action that will be taken against the employee.

Any client truck driver or visitor testing positive (warning orange light or fail red light) will not be allowed to
enter the site.

RESPONSIBILITY

Security guards, safety officers, supervisors and managers.

RECORDS

A register with all breathalyzer results will be kept on site.
