Someone has asked me which places I would recommend if I

had a chance to represent Viet Nam to foreign friends? I have

given this question a lot of thoughts since there are many
famous places in our country. However, I think that among
those, only one can become the heart and soul of Viet Nam. It
is Hanoi capital.
To begin with, as we all know, Hanoi is the capital of Viet Nam
for almost thousand years, situated on the western bank of the
Red river. It is considered the representation of Viet Nam not
only in the past but also in contemporary life.
Firstly, I will talk about Hanoi in the past. It had a different
name is golden dragon-rising land. We had just celebrated its
millennial anniversary in 2010. During the Viet Nam wars,
hundreds tons of bombs were dropped on Hanoi. Though forty
years have passed, all Vietnamese couldnt forget what
happened in 12 - day historical campaign Dien Bien Phu in the
air .American invaders wanted to destroy our country but
Hanoi capital - the heroic land, the legendary land stills stay
strong and survive to fight for peace after all.
And at present, Hanoi has closed its heart-rending past to
develop for the future and integrate into the world. It is also
known as the center of culture, politics, economy and tourist of
the whole country. There are more and more tall buildings with
modern equipments. There are also more vehicles and means
of transport than ever before. Furthermore it is regarded as one
of the fastest growing city in economy.
However, despite its rapid industrialization, Hanoi now still
remains many cultural and historic monuments that are the
most tourist attraction such as Old Quarter, the Temple of
Literature, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Hoan Kiem Lake,Last but
not least, coming to Hanoi, you will experience a unique cuisine
and will be welcomed with open arms, friendliness and
hospitality of Vietnamese.
In conclusion, Hanoi deserves the representation of Viet Nam.
In the past, it showed Viet Nam as a heroic country and at

present, it symbolizes a continually developing country with a

unique culture. Come to Viet Nam, come to Hanoi.
