The war of the animals.
Once upon a time, three countries were at war: The Country of the Cats,
The Country of the Dogs and The Country of the Rabbits. Each week the
strongest citizen and three soldiers from each country attacked the others.
One day, a lion arrived at the place where the war was taking place and
everyone was frightened. One of the soldiers had the idea that if they
fought together they could beat the lion so they joined forces and killed the
lion. Then the elders decided that the three countries could live in Peace.

SANT ANTONI
MARTA: Hello, my name is Marta. Im 10 years old. I live on a farm with
my parents and my brother Amadeu.
AMADEU: Hi, Im Amadeu, Martas brother. Im 9 years old. We live in
Sant Mateu. We like animals. These are our friends the animals:
RABBIT: Hello, my name is Wannie, the rabbit.
DOG: Hi, my name is Dizzy the dog. Who are you?
CAT: Hello, friends. Im Kitty the cat.
SHEEP: And Im Dunnie the sheep.
COW: Hello, girls and boys, Im Rennie the cow.

HEN: And Im Wessie, the hen.

HORSE: Hi, ImJenne, the horse. We live on the farm with Amadeu and
Marta. We like animals and we like children.
COW: We live in Peace. We love children
AMADEU: And we love animals.
MARTA: The 17th January is the day of Sant Antoni.
RABBIT: Sant Antoni is the Patron Saint of the animals.
HORSE: The procession of the animals takes place on the Saturday before
or after Sant Antoni.
HEN: We make bonfires in honour of Sant Antoni.
MARTA: We take all the animals to the procession.
ANIMALS: Yes, we enjoy the procession of Sant Antoni.
CAT: See you next Saturday.
SHEEP: Good luck.
RABBIT and DOG: Best wishes.
AMADEU: Bye bye, friends.

THE HUNGRY RAT

NARRATOR: This story happens in Adigrat, in the North of Ethiopia.
Wanda the witch lives there. She doesnt like animals at all. However, she
has a cat called Luam, which is the only animal in the world she loves. One
day, Wanda is in her hut.
WANDA THE WITCH: Oh, where are my glasses? I cant find them. I
would swear they were here a moment ago. Luam, have you seen my
glasses?
NARRATOR: The rat takes the cats place. And he imitates Luams voice.
THE RAT: No, I haventWANDA THE WITCH: Never mind, I will look for them later.

THE RAT: (Talking to himself) Im very hungry. And my friends, the

other animals, are hungry too. I want to help them but the witch hates us.
Now... Ive got an idea.
NARRATOR: The rat goes outside the house, he calls his friends the
animals in the forest.
THE RAT: Come here, my friends. You are going to eat as much as you
like.
MONKEY: But the witch doesnt like us at all. Shes going to get angry
with us.
THE RAT: Dont worry. She will not see you because she cant find her
glasses. The only thing you must do is keep silent. All right?
GIRAFFE: Yes, OK.
NARRATOR: The rats friends are in the garden around the witchs house.
WANDA THE WITCH: I cant see anything. Luam, my dear cat. Can you
help me?
THE RAT: Of course, maam.
WANDA THE WITCH: Come on Luam. Do you want something to eat?
THE RAT: Miaow, miaow.
WANDA THE WITCH: What would you like?
THE RAT: Can I have some chicken, please?
WANDA THE WITCH: Yes, of course you can. Here you are.
THE RAT: Animals, this chicken is for you. Bon appetit.
ANIMALS: Thank you very much, rat.
THE RAT: Would you like something to drink?
GIRAFFE: Oh, yes please.
THE RAT: Miss Wanda, please, can I have some milk?
WANDA THE WITCH: Yes, of course you can, Luam. Look, there is
some milk in the fridge. Take it.

THE RAT: Thank you very much, maam, you are very kind.
WANDA THE WITCH: Oh, thank you. Would you like anything else?
THE RAT: Yes please, Id like some cake too. Can I have some cake?
WANDA THE WITCH: Yes, of course you can. Tomorrow is my birthday.
I have made a cake but you can have a piece today. Lets open the fridge
again.
THE RAT: Id like all the cake.
WANDA THE WITCH: All the cake?
THE RAT: Yes, maam. Im very very hungry. Please, give me all the
cake.
WANDA THE WITCH: All right. Have the cake. Ill make another for
tomorrow. Here you are.
THE RAT: Thank you very much, maam. You are very kind as always.
WANDA THE WITCH: Thank you.
THE RAT: Animals: Ive got a cake for you.
ELEPHANT: Good!!
CROCODILE: Great!!!
ZEBRA: Fantastic!!!
WANDA THE WITCH: What do you think of the cake, Luam?
THE RAT: Good... great... fantastic!
WANDA THE WITCH: Im glad.
THE RAT: But Im still so hungry!
WANDA THE WITCH: Are you still so hungry???? Oh. Anyway Ill have
a look in the fridge. Lets see... Oh, whats that? Good heavens!!! Here are
my glasses.
THE RAT: Oh, no.
NARRATOR: The witch puts on her glasses.

WANDA THE WITCH: Well, Luam. What do you... oh? You are not my
cat Luam. You are a rat!!! One moment... did you eat all the food I gave
you?
NARRATOR: The witch looks out of the window.
WANDA THE WITCH: Who are you? And what are you doing in my
garden?.... Oh, I know... you ate all my food...
MONKEY: We are sorry madam. We were very very hungry and we
needed something to eat. Thank you very much for your kindness.
THE RAT: It was my fault. I wanted to treat them.
WANDA THE WITCH: I hate all of you. Now, go away!!!
CROCODILE: But maam. Wed like to give you something in return.
WANDA THE WITCH: I dont want anything in return from you at all.
Now, leave my house.
ANIMALS: One, two, three:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR WANDA!!

NARRATOR: Loud applause.
THE RAT: Three cheers for Wanda the Witch!!!

THE RAT: BRAVO!!!
WANDA THE WITCH: Thank you very much, even if I dont like you.
NARRATOR: Luam, Wandas cat appears.
LUAM: Hello, friends. I heard you singing HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my
witch. I see you are celebrating Wandas birthday. That was a wonderful
idea!!!
WANDA THE WITCH: But...

LUAM: Id like to join the celebrations. Can I?

THE RAT: Yes, of course you can.
WANDA THE WITCH: But you are the only animal I like.
MONKEY: It was very naughty of us to eat your food. We are very sorry.
So now well work hard to give you some food.
LUAM THE CAT: They are creatures like me. Well forgive what you did
if you promise to be kind to everyone and help others as much as you can.
ALL THE ANIMALS: We promise!!!
LUAM THE CAT: Wanda your birthday will be at midnight. Lets keep
the party going tonight. We are all friends, so lets sing HAPPY
BIRTHDAY.

NIA: What do you do everyday?
ALEN: I gotoschool and I help my mum. I want o be a politician. I want to
help girls and boys. And you?
NIA: I work in the countryside every day. I carry water for my family. I
want to help my parents and I want to help people from all over the world.
ALEN: I want to make PEACE.

SOLIDARITY
It was Halloween night. Toms was scaring the children playing Trick or
treat in the street. Toms stole their sweets from them. All the children
cried and got angry with Toms
At school the children didnt play with Toms because they thought he was
a very bad boy.
That night his classmates stole Toms ghost costume .
The next day, Toms parents scolded him. And his classmates parents
scolded their children too. So Toms and his classmates forgave each other.
They became friends again.

SAMILACAT AND FLORITA

Once upon a time there were two villages called Samilacat and Florita.
One village was at war and the other was at PEACE.
Samilacat was the village at war. It was a very sad village and its
inhabitants were hungry, thirsty and cold, and what made them especially
sad was that they had to fight because their king forced them to do so.
Florita was the village at PEACE. It was a very happy village. Its
inhabitants played, smiled and enjoyed themselves. The king of Florita was
very good and kind. A boy called Juan lived there. One day, Juan went to
Samilacat and told the king that the war was no good for anyone. It only
brought starvation, cold and pain to the people. Juan also told the king that
there was no war and the people lived in PEACE in his village.
From then on, the villagers of Florita helped the people of Samulacat.
They gave them food, drinks, clothes and medicines to treat the injured and
the ill. Then Samilacat was a happy village. And that was thanks to a good
boy called Juan.

CHRISTMAS WISH
One upon a time there was a very ill boy called Marc. He had a very
serious illness. But despite his illness, everything around him kept his
hopes up. He was especially excited on Christmas Eve. That night he went
to bed early. Then he heard a strange noise; a reindeer appeared. It told the
boy:
Marc: you have behaved very well all through the year. So everything
you wish will come true.

How do you know my name? asked Marc.

Because Im a magic reindeer.

I wish all the children in the world had presents on Christmas Day.

Are you sure? Wouldnt you prefer to recover from your illness?

No!! He was adamant in his desire and nothing would change his mind.

Marc, you are a great boy and you have thought about other children
more than yourself. Thats why Ill make your dream come true but Ill also
cure you of your illness.
As soon as the reindeer had spoken these words, it disappeared and Marc
fell asleep. It was Christmas Day when he woke up. Marc went to the
Christmas tree to look for his presents. He realized that he was completely
cured. His parents were thrilled by this news and immediately went to tell
all the neighbours. While he was alone, Marc heard a strange noise, the
same noise he had heard the night before. Marc looked out of the window
and saw the reindeer flying in the sky. The magic reindeer waved at him.
Some days later the reindeer went back to Marcs house and they became
very good friends. They were inseparable for the rest of their lives.

MARIO AND LUCAS

Once upon a time there were two very badly behaved boys, Mario and
Lucas. They were always fighting. But on the 30th of November, Peace
Day, their classmates told them:

-Please, dont fight any more. You must be friends. Today is Peace Day.
At first they wanted to start fighting again. But then they saw how beautiful
the playground was. It was full of doves of PEACE. All the children in the
school were singing Peace songs. Everyone looked at them and smiled.
Mario smiled and looked at Lucas. Suddenly, Lucas smiled too. Everyone
shook hands. Mario wanted to shake Lucas hand. Lucas smiled and
accepted his classmates gesture.
They decided that they would never fight any more and, ever since then,
they have been the best of friends.

CHARLIE AND ME
CHARLIE: Hello, Merc. Are you happy ornot?
ME: Hi! you are happy too.
CHARLIE: Yes, Ive got a party for Edu at six oclock. Its lovely!
ME: I go to Edus party too.
SARAH: Buaaa!
CHARLIE: Oh, Sarah! You are very sad!
ME: Yes, very, very sad!
SARAH: I dont go to Edus party! And you, Charlie?
CHARLIE: I go to Edus party and Merc too.
SARAH: Can I go to Edus party?
ME: Yes, you can! The three of us can go to Edus party.
CHARLIE: Yes, its a Christmas party!
ME: Its a very nice party!!
SARAH: Weve got a present for Edu. Its a robot.
CHARLIE: Its a very nice party.
ME, SARAH and CHARLIE: WE WANT TO MAKE PEACE.

This is Snoopy. Hes a dog in the Fina, Salva and Bea House. Hes small
