Example : In chapter 5, the children managed to save the train and stop a very bad accident from happening. One day, Roberta, Peter and Phyllis saw a landslide which blocked the railway line. The girls used their red petticoats to make flags. The train was moving very fast.Bobbie braved herself and ran on to the railway line and waved her flags. The train finally stopped just twenty metres from Bobbie. The children's bravery saved the people on the train from meeting with an awful accident and from getting killed. Moral Value 2 - Kindhearted Example : In chapter 3, the children's mother was ill and had to stay in bed. Dr Forrest came to check on their mother and told Bobbie her mother needed milk and fruit and some other special things to eat in order to get well. They couldn't afford to buy them, so the children decided to ask help from the old gentleman. The old gentleman was a kind enough to provide them with all the things they had asked and some they had not. Moral Value 3 - Stealing Is Wrong Example : In chapter 2, Peter and his two sisters stole some coal from the station yard. Although at first Perks was not happy but the kindness and goodness of his neighbours and the children touched his heart. In the end, he relented and celebrated his birthday happily with them. write about an interesting character.
I read the novel, "The Railway Children" by
Edith Nesbit. In this novel, I find that Bobbie is a very interesting character. I find her interesting because, she is a brave girl. This is shown when there was a landslide. Half of the hillside crashed down onto the railway line. The train was in danger. The children used the girls red petticoat to make six flags to warn the train. The train came down the track too fast. Bobbie ran onto the railway line waving two flags. The train stopped twenty metres away from Bobbie. Here, it is very clear that Bobbie is a brave girl and I am sure not many children her age would do this. She is an interesting character because she is very loving. This is shown when Mother was ill. The children did not have money to buy the things listed by the doctor. Bobbie and her siblings got help. She loved her mother very much and got all the things in the doctors list for her mother with the help of the old gentleman. The old gentleman gave all the things in the list and some extra things. Bobbie has many good qualities and Saturday, July 27, 2013 The character I dislike is Mother. Mother has many positive qualities a mother should have but , I dislike some of her actions toward the children. One example is when she fell ill. The doctor listed out all the things needed for her to get well. They did not have the money to buy all the things listed. The children asked the old gentleman to help them get the things on the doctor's list. That evening, Perks delivered a large box to the children's house. It was given by the old gentleman. Inside the box were all the things in the list with some extra things. Mother recovered and the children told her about what they had done. However, she was very angry with them. I think this is unfair to the children. They did what they could so that Mother get well and I think what they did is not wrong and should be praised by Mother. Character Great Courage. Based on the novel that I have learned , The Railway Children written by Edith Nesbith, the character who shows great courage is Bobbie. I think Bobbie shows great courage because she saves the train in chapter 5. Bobbie and Phyliss use red petticoasts as flags. She waves it but the train does not stop. Bobbie runs on to the line. She waves and waves her flags until the train stops.
The second evidence shows Bobbie has great
courage is when she saves a boy , Jim in character 8. She goes inside the dark tunnel to search for the boy. Bobbie asks Peter to get help. She stay in the tunnel and uses Peters knife to cut off the boot and her petticoat. She puts it under the boys leg.
Lastly, the evidence shows Bobbie great
courage when she gets help from the old gentleman in chapter 3. They writes all things the doctor oders. She is brave to ask from the old gentleman stranger. Then he gives the things the need from the last chapter 3.
