Pekajangan-Pekalongan September, 2012 ABSTRACT Dian Aprianto Saepu Yasir The Difference of Directed Guided Imagery and Listening to Keroncong Music Towards The Pain Reduction in Hernia Post Operation Patients at RSUD Pekalongan Regency. xiv + 76 pages + 9 tables + 5 figures + 11 attachments. Hernia is the conspicuousness of human intestines area which is debilitating so that the surgical operation is needed. The strategy which is applied to hernia patients is surgical operation (hernioraphy). This operation causes pain. What can be done to reduce the pain is by applying guided imagery and listening to keroncong music. This research aims to know the difference of directed guided imagery and listening to keroncong music towards the reduction of pain in hernia post operation patiens in RSUD Pekalongan Regency. The research design is quasi experimental study with two group pretest posttest design. The sampling techniques which is used in this research is purposive sampling with a total of 20 sample respondents. Statistical test which is used is t-test by 5%. Statistical test shows that the value of pain reduction in hernia post operation patients is 0.015, which is less than (0.05) so Ho is rejected. This means there exists the significant difference of directed guided imageryand listening to keroncong music towards pain reduction in hernia post operation patients at RSUD Pekalongan Regency. Researcher suggests that directed guided imagery and listening to keroncong music can be used as non pharmachological nursing action by the nurses to reduce the pain of hernia post operation independently.
