October 2016 Archer PDF
On October 31, 1517 Martin Luther began the Protestant Reformation with his
act of defiance by nailing the 95 Thesis to the door of the Wittenberg Castle
Church. His protest of the selling of indulgences 499 years ago acted a springboard for change throughout the world. Luther along with contemporaries such
as Zwingli and Calvin and later (because of political motivation) Henry VIII,
redefined Christianity and allowed it to be something that every person could understand.
Because of Luthers courage in standing up to the Pope, common people were able to finally read the
Bible, and more importance was placed on the scriptures. The church was made more accessible to everyone. It changed Christianity and it changed the world.
In the world then, the church was far away from the individual lives of the people. Traditions were
present, but the Spirit seemed to be missing from all of it. Today, our world seems to be very distant from the
church as a whole, and it almost feels like we need another Reformation. We need to find new ways to reach
out to our neighbors, to educate our young people, to spread the Good News. And the church has these opportunities starting this month.
In Primghar WWW is going to be starting up again. It is an awesome opportunity to help make sure
that the younger generations are able to be welcomed into the church and learn about Jesus Christ. In Archer,
the Bible Studies and Sunday School lessons are inspiring people to learn more about their faith and share it
with others. They may seem like small steps for two tiny towns, but the lessons we learn today have a farreaching impact on the world tomorrow. With the faith of a mustard seed, Gods power is unlimited.

FELLOWSHIP
If you are aware of someone in need of a pastoral call, please inform Pastor Kris on her cell 712-3442846. She would rather hear from multiple sources than from no one at all. In these times of privacy
rights, hospitals and nursing homes may not divulge information relating to a resident or patient, so it
is very important that members and/or their families let the Pastor know of all needs for pastoral care.
