August, 2015- Volume 8

Its hard to believe that I am about to start my second month

in Northwest Iowa. So much has happened in such a short
amount of time, and yet it seems like I havent even gotten
started.
We feel truly blessed to have been welcomed so warmly,
both at church and around town. We also have appreciated the grace that has been offered
while we try to get settled, and the patience while I still rely heavily on Google Maps to navigate the area.
It was wonderful to be able to see how this church interacts with the world and the community by being able to participate (ever so slightly) with the Mission presentation and then to be
able to help with Vacation Bible School. I am truly impressed with the way the churches of
this community are able to come together to help spread the love of Jesus Christ.
During this next month, I hope to be able to really start to get to know this community more
as we also prepare for the school year and the start of WWW. I also am going to start planning for a new members class that prepares young people to profess their faith.
~Pastor Kris
Mark your calendars for Wednesday, September 16th! The PPR Committee will be hosting a welcome supper for Pastor Kris and her family at 5:30 pm. They will be serving
hotdogs, Coney dogs and taverns. After the meal, we will be kicking of our first night of
Wild Wednesday Worship (WWW). More details next month.
Vacation Bible School Update
We had another successful year at Vacation Bible School. A huge thanks to everyone who brought food, prepared lunch, help herd, and gave money for the Adopt a
Child program. During the week of VBS the children brought in money for missions. This year we raised $949.29. The funds raised will go to Global Compassions to build safe homes in Haiti.
If you are aware of someone in need of a pastoral call, please inform Pastor at the office, 957-4960 or
cell 712-344-2846 She would rather hear from multiple sources than from no one at all. In these times
of privacy rights, hospitals and nursing homes may not divulge information relating to a resident or
patient, so it is very important that members and/or their families let the Pastor know of all needs for
pastoral care.
