    editionpublishedfortheyear1953.Thereportcontainsinformationonpolicerecordedcriminalcasespertainingtothecalendaryear2015.Thedataforthepublicationhasbeencollectedfrom36
    States/UTsand53MegaCities(havingpopulationofmorethan10lakhs).
    Someofthehighlightsofthereportsinclude:
    Adecreaseof4.7%undercrimesagainstScheduledTribes(from11,451in2014to10,914casesin2015).
    Adecreaseof4.4%undercrimesagainstScheduledcastes(from47,064in2014to45,003casesin2015).
    Adecreaseof3.1%undercrimesagainstwomen(from3,37,922casesin2014to3,27,394casesin2015).
    28,69,195casesunderIPCwereinvestigatedin2015.Outof1,05,02,256IPCcases,13,25,989casesweretriedbythecourtsin2015,showingconvictionrateas46.9%underIPCcrimes.
    Outof46,46,419cases,investigationcompletedin43,46,003cases.Caseschargesheetratewas98.1%andconvictionratewas92.4%underSpecial&LocalLaws(SLL)cases.
    PropertiesworthRs.8,21,040lakhwerestolenduringtheyear2015andagainstthisloss,propertiesworthRs.1,35,019lakhwererecovered.
    Atotalof73,26,099offencecases[29,49,400IndianPenalCode(IPC)casesand43,76,699SLLcases]werereportedin2015,anincreaseof1.3%over2014.
    Anincreaseof5.3%undercrimesagainstchildren(from89,423in2014to94,172casesin2015).Kidnappingandabductionconstituted44.5%oftotalcasesofcrimesagainstchildren.
    Anincreaseof25.8%undercrimesagainstHumanTrafficking(6,877casesin2015comparedto5,466casesin2014).
