What is Education?

Is it knowledge in basic skills, academics, technical

disciplines, citizenshipor is it something else? Our
formal education system says only the academic basics
are important, emphasizing the collection of knowledge
without understanding its value. What about the
processing of knowledgeusing inspiration, visionary
ambitions, creativity, risk, motivation and the ability to
bounce back from failure? These skills are associated with
understanding the value of knowledge, but many
education institutions dont consider these skills. There is
a huge, disconnected gap, which is a problem for high
school students in particular.
Education is the process of facilitating learning, or the
acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, beliefs, and habits.
Educational methods
include storytelling, discussion, teaching, training, and
directed research. Education frequently takes place under the
guidance of educators, but learners may also educate
themselves.[1] Education can take place
in formal orinformal settings and any experience that has a
formative effect on the way one thinks, feels, or acts may be
considered educational. The methodology of teaching is
called pedagogy.
Education is commonly divided formally into such stages
as preschool or kindergarten, primary school, secondary
schooland then college, university, or apprenticeship.

Why are we being EDUCATED for?

There is great misery, poverty, brutality in this country. When
you drive down from Bombay, you see all those huts, tents,
filthy; human beings are living there. You want to cry when
you see all that, and nobody cares. I know, you listen to this,
what the speaker has to say, but it will make very little dent.
Governments don't care, individuals don't care, because they
are only concerned with themselves, with their power, with

theirknowledge, with their money. The modern civilisation is

based on power and money. And students throughout the
world, because the speaker has spoken at many universities in
America and some of the institutions in this country, and they
are all being trained to seek a vocation of imitation, to be safe,
to pass examinations, get a degree, PhD and all the rest it,
and get a job either in this country or go to America.
