VOLUNTEER WORK
Arab Student Union (Director Of Community Relations for two years): The Arab Student Union (ASU) is an
organization within Fordson High School composed of a promising new generation of individuals who are dedicated
to increase positive awareness of the Arab American heritage, while decreasing the harmful stereotypes of the people
of our culture. As a board member of this organization, I was able to contribute to all of ASUs events and direct
many of them. Such as:

The Democratic Convention to represent Arab Americans in Dearborn.

A Turkey Drive during thanksgiving for low-income families.
Volunteering during elections for more than 12 hours each time.
Relay for life to help raise Money for Cancer
Volunteering at a soup Kitchen.

Peer to Peer: Peer to Peer was created to help students that are undergoing family and social Issues. As the president
of the Club I organized and coordinated many events such as:

The Annual D.E.F.F Unity Run: A marathon created to raise money for a scholarship for
graduating seniors
The Bullying extravaganza Presentations.
Fortsons Annual Fashion Show: An event created in order to fundraise money for an organization
called first step, which helps families undergoing issues at home.
Middle school presentations: An event where we go to three middle schools and discuss the
differences between bullying, being mean, and being rude.

National Honor Society: The purpose of this organization is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, and to stimulate a
desire to render service. Through this organization I was given the opportunity to participate in the following events:

Gleaners food bank: An event where we packaged food for the homeless.
Fortsons high Schools first ever poetry slam: An event my peers and me coordinated which was
created to raise awareness about whats going on in the Middle East. Also all of the fundraised
proceeds were donated to SARN. An organization that helps Syrian refugees who reside in
Michigan. We raised almost 700 hundred dollars for Syrian refugees.
Red Cross blood drive: An event in which I donated blood to help save lives
A peace march: A march to show how the real Dearborn is a peaceful community and cares about
how others perceive it.
