2. Solve the following system by substitution. Show your work and algebraically verify your
solution. (4 marks)
x + 4y = 6
2x 3y = 1
Isolate x in 1st equation and y in 2nd equation:
x = 6-4y
y= -1/3+2/3x
Plug in x = 6-4y into y= -1/3+2/3x
y= -1/3+2/3(6-4y)
y=1
Plug y=1 into original 1st equation
X+4=6
X=2
