HISTORY OF BARANGAY STA.

LOURDES
Sometime in 1958, a group of people from Bgy. Tagburos namely Mr.
Bernabe Flores, Mr. PanfeloRacuya, and Mr. Felipe Bacunga initiated
the move to organize a barrio in an area close to PQMI. These 3 people
conducted a census and found out that the population qualified the place to
be a barrio.

Since barrio then was created by Act of Congress, they requested


Congressman Mr. Gaudencio Abordo to pass a law creating a barrio to be
called Sta. Lourdes which was taken from the name Patron Saint Nuestra
Seora de Lourdes. In the early 60s when the barrio was officially created,
Mr. Bernabe Flores was appointed as the 1st Teniente Del Barrio. In
1964, after the passage of the barrio chapter, an election was called to elect
the 1st Barrio Captain. The 1st Elected Barrio Captain was Mr. Isidro
Palmes who served a four year term up to 1967. The 2nd Elected Barrio
Captain was Mr. Pedro Mendoza who also served a four year term. Mr.
Pablo Barte was the 3rd Elected Barrio Captain who served many years
because he was the Barrio Captain when Martial law was declared by the late
President Ferdinand Marcos.

After Martial law when the President election was held, President
Marcos lost the election. President Aquino took place and charged all
Barrio Captains to OIC. Mr. Roberto Paloma was appointed as OIC in 1986
of the Barangay until local election. In 1989, Mr. Pablo Barte again was
elected as Barangay Captain. His six council men were the following: Mr.

Vasquez,

Renaldo

Redon,

Clarita

Magura,

Roberto Paloma and Feliciano Bengzon. They are the new Barangay
Officials. The Barangay Secretary was MrsWilfreda Aguilar and the

Barangay Treasurer was Mrs. Ester Alaro. After them, the next elected
officials were the following: In 1994,Fe Ylaya as Barangay Captain and
her council were:Wilfreda Aguilar, Jaime Panes, Antonia Galang,
Silverio Eleazar, Benny Mendoza, and Lorenzo Reyes. The Bgy.
Secretary was Fe Amanca, the Bgy. Treasurer was Ester Alaro, and the
1st SK Chairman was Samuel Yaez.

In 1997, Mr. Paterno S. Esoy was elected as Barangay Captain


who served a five year term up to 2002. His Barangay council was: Alan
Barte, Lilia Mandragora, Antonia Galang, Natividad Odasco, Renato
Bontogon Jr. ,Jose Valea, and Lorenzo Reyes. The Bgy Secretary was
Mr. Dante G. Palmes, the Bgy. Treasurer was Norma B. Barte and the
SK Chairman was Donna Christine Rodriguez.

In 2002, Mr. Lorenzo P. Reyes was elected as Barangay Captain


who served five years on his first term. His Barangay Council was: Natividad
A. Odasco, Bernardita M. Elamparo, Jose P. Valea, and when he died
his son Gerardo L. Valea occupied his position, Lilia B. Mandragora,
Pablo P. Barte, Wilfreda L. Aguilar, she resigned and her daughter in-law
occupied her position Rea C. Aguilar and Dante G. Palmes, the SK
Chairman is Louise Gylnda A. Sandoval, Barangay Secretary is Loida
P. Jamandre and the Bgy.Treasurer is Jessette A. Oquendo. And last
October 2007, Lorenzo P. Reyes won again as Barangay Captain for
second term. His Barangay Council was Renante G. Guarino, Arsenio A.
Nielgas, Bernardita M. Elamparo, (Re-elected) Rea C. Aguilar, Joven P.
Ubay, Reynaldo C. Cornel, Elizabeth S. Sinoy, and SK Chairman was

Mr.Gerardo L. Valea was then appointed as Barangay Record Keeper.

Last October 2010, Mrs. Erlinda B. Rodriguez was elected as


Barangay Captain. Her Barangay council were: Renante G. Guarino (Reelected) Bernardita M. Elamparo (Re-Elected) Elizabeth S. Sinoy (Reelected) Gerardo L. Valea, Elbert S. Sapa, Edgar C. Esoy and Rea C.
Aguilar (Re-elected). The Barangay Secretary was Grace Esoy- Muhi,
and the Barangay Treasurerwas Norma B. Barte, and the SK Chairman
was Nathaniel G. Bacosa. She later appoint

Last October 2013, Mr. Edgar C. Esoy was elected as Barangay


Captain.

Treasurer and JENNIFER CORNEL as Barangay Clerk.

The aborigines of the Barangay were the Cuyunos and the


Tagbanuas with some people from various Provinces. The 1st group of
Christians were the Roman Catholics and later, few Iglesia Ni Cristo
followed and other groups.
