Time After Time
Time is constantly passing by, the rate of which time passes is relative to how a person
perceives it. When overwhelmed with a huge workload, time is often perceived to travel quickly
as time is a limited resource that needs to be divided to accomplish all of the tasks. However,
what is important is how we manage our time to accomplish our tasks.
Current Time Usage

Chen 2
The purpose of this chart is to show my general weekly schedule. Currently, nearly 60%
of my weekly routine is occupied by sleeping and using the computer. That means that the other
40% of my weekly routine is divided up for the many other aspects of my life. I calculated the
weekly time of getting to school and getting home. I then summed up the remaining time to the
hours of sleep I get per night. My time on the computer can vary as I go out with friends on

Saturday.
College Schedule at Arizona State University
Scheduling is always going to be a part of your life no matter where you go. A schedule
keeps you organized and lets you know when to prepare and when it ends. It lays out your
weekly routine and shows how much time you have dedicated to other activities. Building a
schedule helps you get through the week. The way I built this schedule was with the Class
Catalog I used from the ASU website where it shows the classes and time slots I can choose
from.

Post-Secondary Time Usage

This graph illustrates my predicted time usage in the future when I will be attending
ASU. This gives me an idea of how my hours will be different compared to my previous
lifestyle, as a result of a change to my future academic schedule. This was accomplished using
the chart from above to calculate the time allocated to my classes and time that will be used for
homework. Also taking reference from family members & friends who are currently in college or
a university.

Reflection
The difference that I realize in between the two is that I will be spending more time on
homework and sleep. While my time on the computer will decrease and my time in class will
decrease slightly. On the other hand, my club, sports, or social activities will stay relatively the
same. I am surprised that my homework time will dramatically increase due to the empty slots in
between my classes on my academic schedule. One thing that worries me in the near future is to
find the perfect balance between my classes and my daily routine. While making my make
believe schedule, I realized that some classes are too spaced apart thus wasting precious time.

Also, not factored in was the walking distance around the campus in between the classes makes
me unsure of whether or not I can make it to class on time.
