States of Matter - Summative

Assessment
Students are to use their iPads to create a book in Book
Creator based of the 3 States of Matter that have been looked
at during this unit.
For their book, they must track WATER and how it looks and
acts when in each of the three states (Liquid, Gas and Solid).
This assessment will be completed in class and will be done
individually.
Students who are AusVels Level 2-3 are expected to do the
following:
- Include pictures/images of water in each of the three
states.
- Write a sentence naming what water is called when in
each of the three states.
o Eg. Solid = Ice or as a solid water is called ice
Students who are AusVels Level 4-5 must also include the
following:
- At each state, students should write a scientific fact that
they have learnt during the unit.
o Eg. As a liquid, water has a neutral Ph.

A change of state between solid and liquid can be caused by
adding or removing heat
Solids, liquids and gases behave in different ways and have
observable properties that help to classify them
Represent and communicate observations, ideas and findings
to show patterns and relationships using formal and informal
scientific language
