Day Four: Introduction to strategies, tools, and research
Today, students will participate in a class review of vocabulary words using Kahoot!
Afterwards students will continue conducting research and composing their essays. The
teachers will split the class in half and work with students using the team teaching strategy
while also providing differentiated instruction. They will also use an index card to answer the
essential question and summarizing strategy.
Definitions
Alternative/ Differentiated Teaching is described as providing two different
approaches to teaching the same information. The learning outcome does not differ per
student but the instructional method is different. The concept for the day is to develop an
idea of how to conduct effective research through writing with the three c's; claim, cite, and
clarify. Claim the big ideas, cite the information for those ideas and clarify by explaining how
it all works together to present a message.
Standards

Cite strong and thorough textual evidence to support analyses of what text says

explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text.

Uses technology, including the internet, to produce, publish, , and update individual
or shared writing product, taking advantage of technologys capacity to link other

information and display information flexibility and dynamically.

Conducts as well as more sustained research projects to answer questions (including
self-generated questions) or to solve problems; narrows or broadens inquiry when
appropriate; and synthesizes multiple sources on subjects , demonstrating
understanding of subjects under investigation.
