Day Three: Step By Step Procedure
Ted ED- The Power of Simple Words
Students will watch a short video that focuses on using simple words to convey a
message rather than long fancy words. Afterwards, students will do a quick quiz to assess
what they have learned. The video will be accessed via YouTube and presented on projector.
The quiz will be handed out by classroom teachers.
Chromebooks/ Hands-On Activit(ies)
Students will continue research on Chromebooks, which are access through their
student Gmail account.
Essential Question/Exit Card
Students will use an index card to respond to the essential question and summarizer
that are written on the board. These will help them continue thinking about the topic of their
essay and summarize what they learned for the day
Interactive Collaboration/Differentiation Literacy
Students who are on the special education roster for co-teaching services will receive
a copy of the TedEd notes. The special education teacher will model how to properly take
notes on the presentation using a large notepad that hangs up in the front of the class. This
will allow students to follow the presentation and look at the teachers notes for reference if
they cannot move as fast as other students.
Assessment of participatory/collaborative learning
Data will be collected throughout the learning experience using the summarizing
strategies, also called the ticket out the door. Each day students will answer a question

pertaining to that days lesson and submit it before leaving class. These will be used to see if
students are grasping the overall daily lesson. At the end of the week, submission will be
graded on rubrics specified for general education and special education students
respectively. They will also complete their own self assessment.
