large image. I found this a bit weird, because they could have made the writing larger, and made the image a little smaller, because the large size of the image is not really necessary, and it feels very dominant over the rest of the page. The image features the two people who make up the Institution/ band Handsome Furs. A man with a coat- making him look distribution a bit classier then the woman, Under the radar is an indie and making him fit together magazine, distributed mostly across North America, but also with the fonts. She is wearing internationally. The magazines a tattoo, bright pink lipstick, and she is pressing a knife includes in-depth interviews, photos and reviews. It is avail- against the table. I think is reable both as a print and online. lated to the VALS of the band, but since her attitude crashes with the style of the man, it fits with the pull-quote I think weve kind of evolved into a political band.
The colours on this page are
very pale, everything from the white background and the cold, blue headline to the light image. This could be because its the look the editor is looking for, based on the bands music and style. The colours could also be cold because of the cold nature of the imagethe office, the knife, and what looks to be unpleasant people.
I liked the dps, but I think it
was a bit too simple. The image was also unnecessary large, and took the focus of everything else. The best thing about the page is the large contrast between the story and the tile/quote. It made the quote stand out, so that the focus did not fall only on the image
The fonts are the same as on
the cover, and after a quick flip through the magazine, I found out that the grotesque, sans serif fonts are used on almost every page, except for on the advertisement pages. The font shows high class, but its not as uptight as sans fonts, so is goes well together with the overall feel of the image.

What I first saw when I opened
the double page spread, was the title Handsome Furs / a home on the other side. And the quote I mentioned earlier. The quote tells us something about the band, and if you find the quote interesting, you would probably read on. I think the quote is a bit big, but that is necessary on a double page like this, where the text is so small that the reader never would have started reading it the quote and title was not interesting. The language is simple and simple, like the style of the magazine. There is no irony, slang or satire etc.
