Purpose:
Refer to lab instruction attached.
Apparatus:
(a) Calibration of pressure gage and pressure transducer
(b) Pressure measurement with U-tube manometer, pressure gage and pressure transducer.
Principle/Theory:
(a) Principle of Bourdon Tube for measuring pressure
(d) Derivation of the slope and intercept of the best linear fit:
Procedure
Refer to lab instruction attached.
Raw Data
Refer to lab instruction attached.
Sample Calculations
(a) Calibration Curve for Pressure Gage
By Pressure Gage
By Pressure Transducer
Results
(a) Slope of Pressure Gage Calibration Curve: ______________
(b) Slope of Pressure Gage Calibration Curve: ______________
(c) Comparison of Pressure Measured by All Three Devices:
Manometer Reading

Conclusion
(a) Calibration curves for both the pressure gage and the pressure transducer are successfully
established. Both devices indeed responses linearly with applied pressure.
(b) Pressures measured with the manometer, pressure gage and pressure transducer are consistent with
each other, demonstrating all three devices are applicable for pressure measurement.
Plots
(a) Calibration Curves of the pressure gage and the pressure transducer are presented on the following
page.
(b) Homework: Also create a plot to show the comparison between the pressures measured by the three
different devices.
