In a paragraph or two, please explain your art piece.
Explain and justify your choices for the following: techniques used (for watercolor and embroidery)--refer to the specific terms Cat shared with you (when in doubt, look at the handouts!) the symbolism behind your piece the colors you chose the significance of the images/symbols/words that you chose. How does it fit into the final piece for your group? Comment on your process, how much critique you received, who gave you critique, what changes did you make based on critique and the total time you spent on the piece. If appropriate, comment on additional piece(s) you made for your group/the project I used the flat wash to paint the water, background, and the gavel. Then I added salt to the water to make the water look like there is a small ripples in the water. I used the back stitch to stitch the ripples I drew, so I could outline the ripples for a visual effect. I decided to use a gavel because she was a judge and it was a very important part of why she left and it was a career she loved. I decided to make it hit water, creating ripples, to show after she made the final decision/ her career created ripples or changes in her life. After one event happened, it followed another. I added a symbol representing family on the gavel to show another integral part of her life. I used blue for the water and used red/orange in the sky to represent powerful colors. I originally had a different design but it was too detailed and felt it was over designed. I chose to do something more simple so it would be easier for me to draw and was more aesthetically pleasing.
