Helping hands Update

The Special Interest class, Helping Hands, met today to discuss the
facts of their issues. The issues include the Affordable Care Act
(ObamaCare), cutting the defense budget, and letting in Syrian refugees.
Helping Hands is against ObamaCare, claiming that costs could increase as
much as 22% next year; along those lines, 75 hospitals have closed since
2010, when the Affordable Care Act came into play. Because of this, 273
hospitals are at risk of closing. Our healthcare choices, $760 billion, or 30%
of all our healthcare costs in the United States are wasted. The next topic is
cutting of the defense budget; in the past 12 years, $400 billion has been
cut from our military defense. An additional $1 trillion is projected to be
added to the budget over the next decade. The final
issue, of letting in Syrian refugees, may be the
toughest issue yet. Helping Hands want to let in
100,000 refugees from Syria. As many of you know,
Syria is in a violent civil war and over 31,000 people
have been murdered in Aleppo alone; 5,000 people
flee each day from this Syrian city; 9 million people
total have fled Aleppo.

What Makes Randy Bobandy

Different?
What makes your candidate unique from the others?
I believe that what makes Randy different from the other candidates
is his economic stance as well as his plans for the Syrian refugee
crisis. Although Jose has made debt of the nation an important issue,
Randy has chosen to implement right wing economic reforms.
What will help your class through the debate?
Also, his recent stance on bringing in 10,000 Syrian refugee orphans
has universal appeal.
The debaters that we have are doing their own research into specific
questions from the debate to be able to defend or stances with facts.
What is one issue that your class has talked about that you're
excited to speak about at the debate on Friday?
Personally, I am excited to speak about our solutions for the
healthcare and refugee issues (Renken).

Do You Know The Truth About Ethanol?

Ethanol is a clear, colorless liquid that is present in 97% of U.S.
gasoline. Typically it is present in E10, E15, and E20; there is also
E85 that is only for flex-fuel vehicles. Ethanol aids in reducing air
pollution, and it helps farmers. Ethanol is made from corn that local
farmers produce and sell to the ethanol plants. Ethanol also raises
the corn prices for the farmers so that
they can sell for a higher price and make
more profit. Since we are a very ag
based state, this is a very good thing for
our farmers and our economy. Should it
be required for each gas station to offer
at least one pump for ethanol?

Every year two baseball teams out of 30 make it all the way to play
in a championship game, known as the world series. The two best teams face off
in a seven game series full of intensity and excitement. At the end of game four,
Cleveland had won three of four games- only needing one more game to take the
series. The Cubs proved that they still had a fight in them, winning the next two
games tying the series 3-3, sending this championship game into the nerve
wracking 7th game.

In the first inning the Cubs began to use their momentum, bringing in a
run. The second inning brought no marks on the board, but in the third the
Indians brought in one to tie up the game. The Cubs were not comfortable, and
retaliated with two more runs in the fourth, bringing the score to 3-1. In the 5th
both teams were fueled and brought in two more runs each making the score 5-3.
The sixth brought in one more for the Cubs, but the 8th was detrimental for them.
The 8th inning the Indians got the bats swinging. This run started with Guyer
hitting a double, bringing in one making the score closer at 6-4. This hit fueled
Rajai Davis to hit a two run home run, tying up the game at 6-6. The top of the
9th rolled along, and the Cubs were to hit first. The Cubs left a winning run on
third base as they entered the bottom of the 9th. Cleveland started at the top of
their order, but the Cubs quickly shut them down 1,2, and 3 sending the game
into a 10th inning. The top of the 10th drove in two runs for the Cubs, putting
pressure on the Indians. The Cubs put in young pitcher, Carl Edwards Jr., who
quickly put away the first two hitters. He then walked one, and allowed for a base
hit up the middle, and coach then removed him. The last out was made easily by
Chris Bryant resulting in a 8-7 win. Baseball is now at a end for the year, with the
Cubs on top. Who will it be next season?

Two Americans Killed in Afghanistan

Tragic news from Afghanistan was received on Thursday. Two US
service members were killed in an operation that targeted Taliban leaders.
United States special operations forces joined together with Afghan troops
for the operation. Along with the two that were killed, four were injured.
Airstrikes were called in during the firefight to support the troops and
were said to be successful. In the raid, sixty-five insurgents were killed. US
officials have not confirmed that the two Taliban officials were killed, but
they did state that it is likely that they were killed in the airstrikes. Despite
some misconception from the people, there are still 10,000 US troops in
Afghanistan today. President Obama has said that when he leaves office he
plans to only keep 8,400 stationed there. There has been reports that the
Taliban and the Afghan government have been having peace negotiations
that would end the hostility between the two.

What Makes Jose Kenuesee

I believe our candidate is unique because he has stated his views clearly
and specifically.
What will help your class through the debate?

debate and on election day.

speak about at the debate on Friday?
Personally, I am excited to speak about the government's finances, and we
