SANDVIK HAMMER MILL
Hammer mills are used for primary and secondary crushing of different
types of material in almost all industrial sectors.
FEED MATERIAL
Hard coal and lignite in coal processing and power plants (circulating
fluidized bed), coking coal for the iron and steel industry, limestone and
gypsum rock or other related soft to medium-hard minerals, as well as
various types of salt and fertilizer.
MODE OF OPERATION
The material passes through the feed opening into the striking arc of the
rotating hammers.
The hammers fling the material against the grinding ledges of the grinding
wall, from where it rebounds back against the hammers. This process is
constantly repeated and the impact of the pieces of material being crushed
against each other reduces the material even more finely. This process ensures that the feed material is crushed to the desired product size.
The material is broken down until it can leave the curved grinding area
through the increasingly narrower gap between the grinding wall and the
rotor. To influence the product size, the circumferential speed of the rotor and
the distance between the grinding walls and the hammer circle can be varied.
The rotation direction of the rotor is reversible.
SANDVIK SERVICE
Sandviks global network provides reliable and efficient customer support. Spare parts availability and a comprehensive range of services allow
improved productivity and maximized plant efficiency.
This concept is already implemented in the design phase of the machines.
Fast and easy replacement of components and wear parts, including the
crushing segments or picks and crushing combs, minimizes unplanned
plant downtimes.
Balanced design
balanced power
The precisely balanced configuration of the opposing hammer arms and hammer heads ensures smooth running of the complete hammer mill without
any vibration. The rotor consists of the rotor shaft, the rotor discs, the hammer
arms as well as the hammer heads. The hammers are loosely suspended between the disks by using bolted connections to the shaft. The hammer arms
are made of high-quality steel and are easy to service.
The hammer heads are wear parts, manufactured from alloy steel, stainless
steel or compound casting and can also be easily replaced.
Hammer mills are designed to be driven at either constant or variable rotor
speeds. Inspection flaps and hinged housing ensure easy maintenance.
ADVANTAGES
Adjusting the grinding wall to the crushing radius (gap width), the rotor
diameter, the rotor speed (m/s), and the perfect combination of these
variables are major factors in determining the reduction ratio and product size
The grinding wall is fitted with grinding ledges and a replaceable grate in
the lower section to reduce oversized grain

Depending on the application, various configuration options and/or
additional structural elements can be utilized:
HAMMER MILL CM420
The reversible hammer mill CM420 makes it possible to utilize the hammer
heads to their optimum by reversing the drive direction without having to
reverse the heads themselves.
Mechanically adjustable grinding walls to compensate wear and
achieve the desired product size
Hydraulically adjustable grinding walls for tasks that frequently
vary in relation to product quality and particle size distribution
Housing design with pressure-shock resistance as a protective
device when processing hazardous feed materials
Heated grinding walls (heat transfer oil) to improve material flow
when processing materials with a tendency to clog due to moisture
or other characteristics
Replaceable grate to limit oversized grain for suitable applications
A number of different drive concepts (v-belt drive, direct drive) are
available. The hammer mill can be driven at either constant or
variable speed
The vibrating damping platform is another special feature of the
Sandvik hammer mill. The base frame for the typical arrangement
of the machine and crusher drive is made of sectional steel. A set
of dampers is fitted underneath the crusher base frame to ensure a
vibration-insulated arrangement of the complete unit
HAMMER MILL CM410
The CM410 range substitutes the reverse-drive feature for the ability
to handle feed material of larger sizes. By reducing the demands on
screening, or even eliminating one step in the crushing process, the
hammer mill CM410 can be a highly cost effective alternative.
