Title: Blind Wine Waiter

Participants: 6 - 60
Timing: 30 Minutes
Overview: Teams of six must successfully find, uncork and pour a bottle of wine into five glasses.
Each team member must carry out no more than one element of the task and at least five of the team
must wear blindfolds.
ALTERNATIVE: water bottle

Title: Bonding Belt


Participants: 6 - 60
Timing: 15 - 30 Minutes
Overview: A hilarious illustration of team bonding in which teams of six are literally bonded together
by a cling film waistband. They then have to race against the clock across the room with the intention
of improving their time with each attempt

The Who
Ask each individual to write2 phrases that describe them. Group them. Let the other
group identify the members of the other team through the description.

Slaves of Job
Divide the group into teams of 4 - 6 people, and line them up in straight lines that stretch from one end of
the playing area to the other (8-10 feet between team members).
The first player on each team is given the paper cups. On "GO" he builds a pyramid on the ground in front of
himself. (using all ten cups) when he is finished, he and the second player on his team try to carry the
pyramid from his spot to the place where the second player sat.
If they drop any part of the pyramid, they can re - build it where it fell and then continue their walk. When
they reach the proper spot, the second player tumbles the pyramid, and then re-builds it so that he and the
third player can advance the pyramid to the third location .
The relay ends when all of the slaves have built, moved and tumbled the pyramid. Players have their choice
of how to move the pyramid, they may want to pick it up by the four cup base or try to slide it across the
floor or ground.

Balloon Stompers
Divide the group into two teams. Each team member blows up a balloon and ties it around his or
her ankle with a piece of string. On go each team tries to stomp and break the other teams
balloons. The first team to stomp all of the other teams balloons wins. You can also break up
the teams by balloon colors to make it easier to know who is who

Indoor Mixers/ Competitive Games (A-J)


Airplane Blitz
Age Group: All Youth
Bring a stack of copier paper and let the kids make lots and lots of paper airplanes. Then you need some
way to clearly divide the room in half. (The taller the divider the better.) A couch works, but even better
was a rolling chalk board. Put half the kids on each side of the divider. Put half the paper airplanes on
each side of the divider. Explain that they can only throw ONE plane at a time and they must stop when
the leader says "stop". Say "Go". They throw the airplanes over the divider as fast as they can. Planes are
flying in both directions. Then pick up
any planes you see and throw them back. The object of the game is to have the least number of airplanes
on your side. Let them go about 3 minutes. Give them a ten second warning and then say "stop". Count
the airplanes on each side of the divider. The team with the least number of planes wins. Repeat it a
number of times, keeping track of the wins to get the champions. A quicker variation: Throw a big bag of
loose socks or balloons in the dark.
________ Blow-Ball
Another great game to play, even though it does not use water, is called Blow-Ball. I have not
played this in a few years and once you play it the trick is out except to new ones.
You place two people across the table from one another. Give each player a cracker.

Place a ping-ping ball in the middle of the table. Tell each one that they have to eat the cracker
and as soon as they can blow the Ping-Pong ball off the other side. Whoever blows it off the
other side wins. Now comes the fun part. After playing this several times or even for several
weeks announce that this game is becoming too easy to play. Blindfold the two players and
instead of putting the Ping-Pong ball in the center place a hand full of flour. Both players will
end up with flour all over them so be warned this is messy. Not to mention funny.
Dragon Game
Split the group into two parts. Get them into line and have them wrap their arms around the waist
of the person in front of them forming a long chain. Stick a rag or handkerchief in the back
pocket of the last person. The goal is for the front person of one group to get the "tail" of the
other, while the tail of the group tries to avoid getting caught.
[Caution: This is best done outdoors if you have over 20 kids.] If the group is separated then the
game comes to a halt and started over again.

Snatch
This is a great game for energising a team, a workshop, or party.
You'll need a strip of paper for every player - get a newspaper or flip chart, and tear off pieces about
a foot long and 2 or 3 inches wide. Appoint a timekeeper.
Ask your players to form two teams. Give everyone a strip of paper each, which they must hold in
one hand, in a clenched fist with the paper hanging down. The objective is to grab as many pieces of
paper as possible from the opposing team.
Tell the teams to get into a huddle and work out a strategy, for a minute. Then kick the game off.
They get 5 minutes to go mad, dash around and grab as many strips as they can.
If your strip of paper is taken, you are "out". Officially this is when no more than a fistful of paper is
hanging below where you're holding it - but it's not too important. If you are "out" you must stop
playing and sit down.
You may not hide the strip of paper by holding it behind your back.
The winners are the team with the most strips of paper at the end.

British Bulldog
You need to play this outside, with a good length playing area that has two distinct ends. The ends
must be marked out with a line, or a wall, or just two objects on the ground.

One person is the bulldog and stands in the middle of the play area. All the remaining players gather
at one end of the area. When the bulldog shouts "Go", everyone must run to the other end without
being tagged by the bulldog. If you are tagged you become an extra bulldog and help in the next go.
If you reach the other end you cannot be tagged.
The bulldog then shouts "Go" again and everyone dashes back to the other end.
Repeat this process until one player is left as the winner.

Waddle
Put a glass of water 15/20 ft. away from where the person who is playing is standing. You then put as
many coins between your knees as possible (or any other part of your body except your hands), walk
over to the glass of water and drop them in.
Whoever gets the most in the glass in one try wins the game.
Blow up two long sausage balloons, and divide your party into two teams. If you have a lot of people
use more teams, minimum 4 per team.
Line the teams up in neat rows. Give a balloon to the leader of each row, who must place it between
his or her knees, pointing forwards.
On the word go, the teams must pass the balloon down their row, from person to person, between
their knees, as quickly as possible. The balloon may not be dropped, or burst and you may not use
hands. If the balloon is dropped it must be picked up between the knees. A burst balloon is replaced
by a new one at the front of the row. The losing team have to take a forfeit (check our forfeits page).
This game is a lot harder than it sounds, especially if you mix tall and short people.

Muscle man
Dont Crack station: Put garbage bags down for this one or go outside. Put eggs under both of
the students heals. They must stand on the their toes to avoid crushing the eggs. The person
who can last the longest without crushing their eggs wins for their entire team. Get creative with
different station ideas and customize it to fit your students.

Red-hot Poker
Everybody stands in a circle and hold hands. You have something in the middle of the
circle (anything works, try a big 50 gallon trash can) and it is the red-hot poker. You then
try to drag, push and pull one another into the red-hot poker. If you touch it or break
hands then you are out. Play until you have the last one standing.

Tap It Out Telephone


This ones great because you dont need any supplies. Its like telephone but instead of
whispering something, you use your finger and draw the word on the persons back.
Everyone is in a straight line, with multiple teams doing this. First team that gets to the
last person and has the correct word wins.

Name That Tune!


Divide students into teams and have one student face off against another student from
the other team. Play five seconds of a popular song from iTunes and have them guess.
If both students dont know, let anyone call it out.

Spud Knockers
Split up into teams of 4 or 5.
Take two potatoes and put them in one leg of a pair of nylons (pantyhose). Take the other leg and tie
it around the waist of a player, so that the leg with potatoes hangs towards the ground.
You then place another potato on the floor in front of the first player. Then, only using your hips, you
have to swing the potatoes between your legs to hit the potato on the floor. The objective is to get
this potato to a certain place and then come back and hand over to the next player.
The winning team is the first with every player back.
Best played outside, not for carpets. You can also use oranges, apples etc

All Together (modified into a race)


Ask the group to find a partner and pair up.
The pairs sit on the ground with their backs to each other.
The parnters then reach behind their backs to link arms with each other.
When the leader says, Go, the partners attempt to stand up without separating.
The leader can specify that the partners can't talk to make the activity harder

--------------Human Bingo
Time Needed:
Number of Players: The more the better. Works best with at least 24
Materials Needed: Bingo cards with various characteristics/sayings in squares.
Pencils/pens, prizes if desired
Preparation Needed (Ahead of Time): Prepare Bingo cards (see example on next
page) with skills, names, birthdays, individual gifts or talents, etc.
Instructions:
Distribute bingo cards as participants arrive at a meeting. Instruct them to get
signatures on each square from someone in the group who fits the description
listed.
Allow this to continue until the meeting starts.
Possibilities:

Call out names as part of get-acquainted or at the end as a wrap up. Give prizes
to
the first bingo.
Discuss the bingo cards using these questions:
1. Which squares were easy and difficult to get?

2. Did anything surprise you?


3. What new talents/assets did you discover among our group?
4. What does this say about our club? our group?

Name of Activity: Blind Square
Time Needed: 15 minutes
Number of Players: 10-15
Materials Needed: Bandanas and a pliable rope, 40-50 feet long
Preparation Needed (Ahead of Time):
Instructions:
1. Blindfold 8-12 of the group members. Ask them to hold onto a rope. ( The loose
ends of the rope are tied together so it is a continuous loop.) Ask the other
members to
observe the blindfolded group as they do the activity
2. Explain the concept of consensus to the group.
3. Instruct the group holding the rope to make the best possible square they can.
The
rope cannot be put down until the group has reached consensus. (This will take
about 5
minutes.)
This Is My Life
Time: Few minutes to 1 hour
Purpose: Learn personal backgrounds in a fun setting
Participants: All
Materials needed: Decks of cards picture cards only
Instructions: Cards represent different stages of life; i.e. Jack is childhood, Queen is
teen

years, King is young adult, Ace is now. As each person draws a card, they must tell
one
story about the period of their life that corresponds to the card.
Desired outcome: Team uncovers common interests and opens dialogue.
Airplane Caper
Time: 12 minutes
Purpose: Lighten up a tough day; re-energize
Participants: All
Materials needed: Paper
Instructions: Two teams are formed on opposite sides of the room; each person
makes a
paper airplane. Everyone begins to throw her or his airplane to the other side at
once.
The goal is not to let any planes land on the floor.
FFEACH
This might be one of the best games of all times! FFEACH is a charades race and the categories
are Fast Foods, Electrical Appliances, and Cartoon Heroes. Teams compete against each other to complete a
predetermined list of items. We use the term "compete" loosely, as it is a charades race, afterall...
1.

Divide the group into 2 or more teams.

2.

Have the group spread out so that they can't overhear the next team's answers.

3.

Ask one member from each team to come to the you.

4.

Whisper the first word into the ears of the volunteers, and release them to their groups at the same time.

5.

Once a member of the group guesses the word correctly, someone new runs to the instructor for the next
word. Advise the group when you are giving instructions that no one can come up for a word twice until
everyone has gone up once. This helps ensure that everyone participates.

6.

The team members must tell the instructor what word their team just guessed, and the instructor tells the
new volunteer the next word on the list.

7.

The object of the game is to complete the entire list without cheating.

Here is a sample list - you can change the list as you see fit, based on participant age, interests, etc.

Hot Chocolate River


Description
Lay two ropes on the ground parallel to each other, about 20 feet apart. Have the campers line up on one
side of the rope, and tell them that they are looking at a giant hot chocolate river. They must get thier entire
team across the hot chocolate river, but it is too hot to swim across, and too deep to walk across. (Obviously,
they cannot walk around the river, since it does not end just because the ropes do).
The only way to get across is by using the large, fluffy marshmallows that you provide (such as carpet
squares, poly spots or paper plates).
Give the campers about eight or nine carpet squares, so that they have enough to get across with one or two
left over.
Advise the group that this challenge isn't about physical abilities, but rather it is about communication.
Unfortunately, the current in the river is so strong that it actually sweeps the marshmallows away if someone
is not holding them down (with a hand, foot, or other safe appendage). Also, the marshmallows swell up once
they are placed in the river, and they become too heavy to move again, so they must remain where they are
placed.
This seems like a simple exercise, but kids, especially middle schoolers, have a lot of trouble with it. It will
take a good 45 minutes for them to begin to communicate with each other, and you will probably need
another set of eyes to make sure that all the marshmallows are being anchored down.
Possible debrief options include:
-Team Responsibility (did it matter if only a few of you made it across the river?)
-Communication (the importance of checking on the person behind you before stepping onto the next
marshmallow)
