Rationale for the inclusion of the course in the programme:


This is a core course for the Master of Science (Educational Management) students to
equip them in the area of educational management and leadership.
Synopsis:
The aim of this course is to provide students with an understanding of the legal issues
pertaining to educational management particularly in Malaysia. It focuses on the rules,
procedures and the legal aspects in relation to the service matters, conduct and discipline
of public officers, school grant, registration of schools, teachers and employees, and
school governors. Issues related to procedure to take action on students discipline, and
negligence of teachers will also be discussed. Students are required to analyze certain
provisions under the Education Act 1996, discuss selected rules; regulations and the
penalties adhered to the provision of the education act and regulations.

Objective(s) of Course : Students are expected to

develop awareness of current issues and trends in school liability and teacher
negligence.

understand how to manage school based on the rules, regulations and procedures
efficiently.

Assessment Methods and Types:


Assessment: The course work consist of: Written individual assignment (20%) Written
group assignment (20 %) group presentation (10%) and quiz (10%). Final examination
(40%).
