Gita Champions League

1. Objectives:
i) To raise the values of life, standards of ideas, better society and better stress
management skills by taking right Ethical Decisions for youth through awareness of
Gita lessons.
2. Vision:
i) Bhagavad-Gita is the most boonafide scriptures for all Indians. It is read and
spoken upon throughout India. Even today, it is accepted as a Divine Witness in
Indian courts and panchayats. It would not be an overestimation to say that it is the
crest-jewel of all Indians, and the basis of Indian culture. Through GCL, we wish to
remind our fellow Indians of their glorious heritage which they should be proud of.
3. Purpose of GCL
i)Our children are our future. We need to protect them, nourish and develop
their minds to help them walk the path of leadership. Even a superficial analysis of the
variety of exposures a child receives today, is enough to scare us about their future.
Childrens minds are like sponges that can absorb anything dropped into it. The
television, movies and the internet together expose the child to violence, pornography
and insanity that the child can easily get influenced and succumb. Adults also have
their own set of problems like stress, frustrations, depression, pressure of whether or
not they will be able to fulfill their responsibilities towards their family and friends,
work place and society at large. Arjuna was in a similar state of mind before the
Mahabharat war began and had to take shelter and guidance from Lord Krishna.
4. What is GCL?
i) To serve this purpose, the International Society for Krishna Consciousness
(ISKCON) is organizing a Bhagavad Gita Contest entitled, Gita Champions League
(GCL). This contest will be a fun, inspiring and motivating way to help everyone to
absorb themselves in the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, enrich and refocus their life
in the right manner. Realizing the divine culture of India, we need to help ourselves to
emerge with superior human values. Gita Champions League will be a helping hand
to learn self-discipline and build a strong value system for the participants.

5. History
i)What started as an endeavour of a small team of 4-5 individuals to organize
the event for only around 600-700 individuals, ended up in actually getting over 2300
participants. The GCL was a project inspired by HH Bhakti Charu Swami Maharaj to
reach out with the message of Bhagavad-Gita to the masses. After a lot of hard work
and appropriate startegy, we started the event. However, as time progressed, people
realized the gravity of the event and came forward to help. The first group to come

forward was the biggest media group of the country Dainik Bhaskar. The others,
like IDBI Bank, My FM,etc also chipped in, and the end result was an event in 6
cities, and 12 centers.
During the prize distribution ceremony, HH Bhakti Charu Swami Maharaj was so
pleased with the event, that he announced a six figure prize money; and we are all
geared up to fulfill that dream with a commitment of adding another zero to both,
the prize money as well as the number of participants.
Already, many people have come forward to help including the Governor
(Rajyapal) of the state His Excellency Shri Ram Naresh Yadav ji, the Director of the
prestigious IIM Indore Dr. Ravichandran, the education minister of the state Mr.
Lakshmikant Sharma, the Industry Minsiter Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya ji, the Water
