Part 2: Analysis and Interpretation of Data

Based on my Pretest/Posttest data from above, I feel that this learning module was
successful; to make sure that the results were consistent, students took the pretest and posttest
using the same testing conditions. According to my data, the pretest scores ranged from 20%50%; and, the posttest data ranged from 50%-100%. Overall, there was a 38 point increase in the

percentages. Due to the academic levels of my students, as an educator, I really was not worried
about the actual scores of the posttest; I really just wanted to know that my students had shown
growth from the beginning of implementing this module until the end. When I saw the posttest
data, I must say that I was really pleased. I did have two students who failed the posttest;
however, they did show growth just like everyone else.
Part 3: Recommendations for Revisions
1. My first recommendation for revision would be to read the assessment to my lower level
readers. When I first gave the pre-test, I did not think about providing accommodations
because none of the students who were participants of my unit were individuals who required
special education accommodations. However, after giving the pretest I thought about how I
was not testing for reading comprehension; therefore, I could have read the assessment aloud
for my students who struggled with reading. When giving the posttest, I wanted to make sure
that the testing conditions were the same; that way, the results which I would receive would
be considered accurate.
2. The two most frequently missed questions were: 1) What is plagiarism 2) True/False.
Plagiarism is just like cheating. 50% of the students answered the first question correctly;
and, 40% answered the second question correctly. When teaching this unit again, I will need
to make sure that I specify that plagiarism is not inappropriate when done correctly. I will
also need to make sure that I explain that plagiarism is not just changing a few words but
changing mostly all of the words and putting them in your own words.
