Learning Objectives: Wafiy will be able to demonstrate confidence in writing English letters

and his own name.

Wafiy I have noticed that you have been showing interest in writing English letters. You are more
interested with the letters needed to write your own name. Anytime you see any of those five
letters you would say, That is in my name. At An-Nur there are many opportunities for the
children to learn the alphabet. For instance, worksheets with dotted lines of the alphabets of
lower case and upper case. You have been practicing writing those alphabets for a while.
Recently I found a front with dotted lines, so I have created childrens names with dotted lines.
You were so happy to be able to practice writing your own name, using the worksheet I have
printed for you. Its amazing to see that when you are happy you keep on chatting and I love to
interact with you too. Widening social interaction is your individual goal for this term. We
teachers make sure that you are developing these skills further.
However, today when you got this worksheet to practice writing your name you were so happy,
and started to concentrate on writing. You were focusing on your task and persisted until you
had finished. I was amazed observing you how oblivious you were and absorbed with your work.
So I decided to move away to let you concentrate. What impressed me more about this learning
experience is that when you had finished you were so relaxed, calm, and happy.

Whats happening?
Wafiy, you were not only developing
concentration and fine motor skills with this
learning experience. You were also developing
literacy skills and learning to write correctly,
forming letters and their shapes in right
direction.
What next?
We will continue to provide you with plenty of
practise for your emerging literacy interest at AnNur. Perhaps next time you could learn the sound
of letters and practice writing and reading simple
phonic words.
