Opening (warmer activity + teacher introduction/demonstration of small group activities)
Task 1:
1. Tell students story and linked to their life ( engage and explore)
While telling students the story I will use TPR, engage students by asking them questions, and ask
them to solve the problems. As a result, students will pay attention and motivate to learn.
2. Ask students what they have learn about adding.
3. Explain for them the steps of adding one-digit numbers and two-digit numbers(26+2)
Guided Experience (group working with the teacher)- whole class activities
Activity 1: use base-ten blocks to add one- digit numbers and two-digit numbers.
Instruction
Students will take one question card (34+3) and use base-ten blocks to add.
Activity 2: write a sum question and give it to your partner.
Instruction
Each student will have an empty card, they will write sum question, and give to their partner. They
will solve it by using base-ten blocks. After solving it, they will discuss and share what they did.
Independent Experience (small group activity 1)
Find the sum by using base-ten blocks.
Instructions:
Give each student a sum card. E.g 34+8 and work mat 6.
Students will look at their cards, use base ten blocks add and find the sum.
Students will use work mat 6 to show the steps of adding and writing the answer.
Independent Experience(small group activity 2)
Matching cards.
Instructions:
Each students will have a set of sum cards, pictures of base-ten blocks (ones and tens) that
represent the answer. To find the sum, students could use base -ten blocks or drawing.
Students will use work mat 6 to show the steps of adding and writing the answer.
Then they will match the sum card with the picture of base-ten blocks (ones and tens).

Independent Experience(small group activity 3)

Solve the math problem
Instructions:
Each students will have a math problem card and work mat 6. They will read it and use either baseten blocks or drawing to add and find the sum.
Students will use work mat 6 to show the steps of adding and writing the answer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------Independent Experience(small group activity 4)
Find the sum by drawing
Instructions:
Students will takes the vase and look at the question(34+3=)
Student will add and find the sum by representing drawing.
Students will use work mat 6 to show the steps of adding and writing the answer.

Color the base-ten blocks that represent the sum
Instructions:
Each student will have a sum card, they will look at addends and then color the base -ten block that
represent the question. Then based on the coloring they will find the answer.
Students will use work mat 6 to show the steps of adding and writing the answer.
Closing

Do a short review by asking the students to recall the steps of finding the sum.
Give students more example about adding one-digit numbers and two-digit numbers.
Assessment
While students are doing the activity I will walk around to observe their working .Also, I will ask students Oral
questions, such as, how did you get that?
Moreover, I will provide appropriate feedbacks for them and improve their learning.
Also, I will use the checklist.
Reflection:

What went well:

Motivate the students who behave well, listen to the teacher and work hard was a powerful strategy because
it made all students quiet, do positive behavior and struggle to work hard.
The learning was productive, it was students center more than teacher center, students were engaged,
motive and get an opportunity to explore and participate.
I used productive techniques to support students learning such as telling students a story; it has a crucial
component to arouse students interest and made them motivate to learn. Also, I met each student need by
applying different learning styles such as visual by showing students pictures, kinesthetic while moving their
hands to do the activity and finally, auditory when students were listening to the teacher while telling the
story and introduce the lessons. Also, I used a collaboration activity.

Used Hand on activities and various manipulatives were fabulous strategies to help a student to learn and
understand better. Also, manipulatives and hands-on activities provide students opportunities for
constructing mathematical knowledge and ideas more explicit
Even better if:

Give students explicit instruction and model the activity for them because students faced problem to
complete the activity by themselves.

Next step in teaching and learning:

Use different strategies while teaching such as integrate learning styles and prepared various hands-on
activities for students.

Reward the students regularly.

Give students clear and straightforward instruction.
