Describe teacher activities

student activities
for each component of the lesson. Include important higher order thinking questions and/or
prompts.
Review with the students what they have learned
Students participate in the activity
so far about being a good citizen
by holding the pieces of paper and
o Umbrella metaphor: bring out the

umbrella and call it el paragua de un
buen ciudadano. Give students pieces
of paper that are examples of either
being a good citizen/student or
examples of how not to be a good
citizen/student. For example, use words
like trabajdor and preparado. Have
students decide whether or not they go
under el paragua de un buen
ciudadano
Explain that the character traits under el
paragua de un buen ciudadano are the traits of a
good citizen
Tell them to always remember el paragua de un
buen ciudadano and that they should try to
exemplify (try to be) the character traits that are
under the umbrella.
Talk about how a good student is not only
hardworking, but also prepared. Prepared
students are ready for class and ready to learn
Give the example of a cook in a restaurant who
needs to prepare (cook) meals for customers
Tell them that as students, its important to come
to class prepared because when they are
prepared, they are ready to learn
Tell the students that there are many examples of
being prepared in the Bible, for example, the
story of Noahs ark
Read the story of Noahs ark from Sra. Wolfs
childrens Bible

Summarize how Noah didnt wait for the rain to

start building the ark. He prepared for the
coming of the flood by building the ark itself, by
Students answer how they think they

Ask the students how they think they can be
prepared for class like Noah
If they dont come up with answers, tell them
that when they come to class, they need to have
to be ready to learn, they need to have changed
their names (id cards) for lunch

them to come up with examples of how they can

Your reflection about the lesson, including evidence(s) of student learning and engagement, as well as ideas for improvement
for next time. (Write this after teaching the lesson, if you had a chance to teach it. If you did not teach this lesson, focus on the
process of preparing the lesson.)
Overall, I think the lesson went well. The only problem was management. When I asked the students to work in groups to
come up with an example of preparedness, they were all over the place. They werent doing what they were supposed to be
doing, and they were all talking. Whenever I talked with the groups, it seemed as though only one person in the group knew
what they were doing.
Im doing something similar to that activity in my final lesson, so Im a little worried at how thats going to go. I cant really
omit it because its a big part of my lesson because its one of my summative assessments.
They behaved relatively well for the umbrella activity. They understood whether or not something was a character trait of a
good citizen.
After reading the story of Noah and the Ark, they understood how preparedness was shown in the story, and they understood
what Noah was preparing for.
The students understand each character trait, but when I had them all fill out the worksheet with their group, every example
started with limpiar It seems as though they arent applying what they have learned to their worksheets, even when I
asked them to give examples of how to be prepared.
This lesson actually was perfectly timed. I was able to accomplish everything that I wanted to accomplish.
