Dear Perspective Employer,

My name is Edward T. Barringer, Ted I am a recent graduate of the School of Education at

North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC. However, I am not your typical recent
college graduate; I am fifty-seven years old. Upon graduation in 1981 from Wake Forest
University in Winston-Salem, NC I began a thirty-five year career in the Durham business
community. After divesting myself of my business interests I decided to return to school to
obtain a N.C. Teacher Certificate.
Teaching is something that has always intrigued me. Now that I am certified, I am ready to
begin the search for a school that I can fit well into, as well a school that will fulfill my
ambitions. I am certified as a middle school social studies teacher.
I am a lifelong Durham resident and would really like to help shape the future of our young
people by providing excellent teaching, mentoring and role modeling. In my spare time I like to
read, play golf, and ride my bicycle.
