Dear Commissioner Michael,
Re: Peter Vaughan South Wales Police Chief Constable
First of all I would like to congratulate you on winning the election to be South Wales Police
Crime Commissioner. Unlike the South Wales Police Federation, as the only person who has
been directly elected by public vote to any part of South Wales Police, I believe you carry a
mandate and the authority of the people. Bill Clinton got elected Attorney General of Arkansas
without a contest no one voted for him!
The reason I am writing to you is to ask you at the earliest opportunity to consider the position
of Peter Vaughan, the Chief Constable for South Wales Police. In the last few months, the news
service of which Im editor-in-chief, The Crocels News, covered a number of stories in relation
to the Internet where South Wales Police went beyond what one might consider reasonable;
http://www.crocels.info/facts-data-information/swpolice/
Raiding the house of an equality activist for criticising Government policy is an affront to free
speech and other democratic rights. And setting up a website to name and shame convicts on
a permanent basis, even though justice has already been seen to be done, is not only
unethical, but illegal if one were to apply the case of Peck v United Kingdom.
Whilst one might argue that Peter Vaughan might only need a word in his ear for the actions
of his officers towards equality and human rights activists, the fact that he was the one that
made the decision to post the photographs of convicts that had already been the justice
system is gross misconduct and illegal/ I do not think it would be disproportionate for you to
ask Peter Vaughan to resign for this and all the other actions for which he was ultimately
responsible over the last few months.
Yours Sincerely,

Jonathan Bishop LLM
