The two excerpts are foundationally premised on mans decision making tendencies and
the physiological responses affiliated with such decision making. The two informative pieces
relay the research findings of credible scholars in the field of psychology and its relation to
mans outward behavior; with the focus in this case being on decision making while gambling.
Two things predominantly stand out in the two excerpts. First is the mans tendency to
unconsciously respond against the unwanted cards way before they are consciously aware of the
fact that they ought to be avoiding those particular choices. The other issue which can be
cogently denoted is the physical responses and reactions that happen in the body while
participants are making their choices. One excerpt shows how the palm of participants hands
became increasingly sweaty with the making of less beneficial choices regarding the red cards
while the other excerpt depicts the initiation of Skin conductance response among the
participants.
This determination was reached by keen insight on researchers underlying intention;
which could be imputed as being the need to shed light on persons physiological responses to
making and right decisions alongside the inherent perception of good and bad choices even
before one becomes cautiously aware of why he/she is making that decision. This determination
is further affirmed by the researchers extension of the game; where the participants are made to
play approximately 100 times. The excerpts denote a state of affairs where the participants are
oblivious of the beneficial and detrimental cards but they eventually get to grasp the gist of the
experiment after a while, hence their increased selection of the beneficial cards after having
made a number of wrong decisions. In essence, the participants starts of unaware-although they

have the gut feeling about the right and wrong choices, before proceeding to actually made the
right choices based on merit.
