EXPERIMENT 5 : CHARLES LAW

OBJECTIVE :
To study the effect of temperature to gas volume
INTRODUCTION :
Charles Law involve the gas expands when heated while weight and pressure
are constant. As the temperature increase, the particle energy will be
increased as a result of the increasing of particle movement.
volume
=constant
temperature ( kelvin)
If V1 and V2 is different volume for the same gas when the weight is constant
at temperature T1 and T2 , so ;
V 1 V2
=
T1 T 2
APPARATUS :
Stopwatch, Erlenmeyer flask equipped with rubber stopper, rubber tube with
clip, beaker (500mL), Bunsen burner, thermometer, tripod stand.
QUESTION :
1. What is the temperature in celsius obtained when the extrapolated
graph cross at temperature axis ? compare with theory result.
2. Using the Charles law and the amount of gas volume at 100 c from

your experiment, determine
