Electricity is the presence and the flow of electric charge.

Its best-known form

is the flow of electrons through conductors such as copper wires. Electricity is
a form of energy that comes in positive and negative forms, also it can be an
AC current or DC current. DC current where invented in 1880s by Thomas
Edison, in DC current (electric charges) can only flow or move in one direction
and its sources are: batteries, photovoltaic (PV) molecules, and DC
generators. AC current where invited in 1887 by Nikola Tesla, in AC current
(electric charges) can flow in different directions and it is produced from
rotating generators and the AC voltage takes the form of sin.
Thomas Edison was the first one who discover electricity in general and DC
current in specific. He thought at the beginning that AC current cant work
because of its very high voltage which can kill people easily so he stick with
his idea of trying to improve the voltage of the DC current cause this low
voltage can only go through some miles and its very expensive to build
many stations. By 1887 Edisons DC system of generating electricity had
become the industry standard, with more than 120 Edison power station
delivering DC electricity to its customers but the problem was in the 240 v
could only be sent to a short distance
Nikola Tesla in 1887 began working on his AC alternator day and night, in
1884 tesla arrived in the United States and went to work with Edison then he
come up with the transformer idea with the help of Westinghouse,
Westinghouse believed that the transformers would allow stepping up the
generator voltage to high voltage low current which helps in longer range
transmission with low losses.
By 1889 the war was almost over, Westinghouse had built 870 central
lighting stations which effects Edisons sales and profits. Westinghouse
awarded the contract in October of 1893, in 1895 Edisons name removed
from the company title and so the war was won with the ease of long
distance AC energy transmission
