TECHNICAL WRITE UP NATURAL GAS COMPRESSOR

Hiring of Gas Dehydration systems

ONGC Cauvery Asset (NLM & KMP)

Gas Dehydration Unit (GDU) system is critical system in a Gas production facility. This system
removes moisture from the natural Gas which is sent to end users through distributors. In GDU
system to provided by HAL, the Natural gas is cooled to temperature of minus two deg C. At this
temperature the water vapour and gas condensates in the natural gas gets converted into liquid
water and liquid condensate. Cooled gas is heated to normal temperature by the incoming gas in a
gas/gas exchanger this also gives energy ecomonization by reducing the cooling load.
Thus the natural gas is cooled and by virtue of this, moisture and condensate in the gas is removed
by a liquid gas separator. For cooling of gas to sub zero temperature, a refrigeration skid is used.
Using refrigeration skid, coolant is initially cooled to minus 10 deg C and then the coolant cools the
gas.
For all this cooling of gas, gas passes through sequence of exchangers and required to be at certain
high pressure. Low pressure gas available on the sites are to be pressurized to certain pressure
around 7 to 10 kg/cm2 and gas compressors are used for this process.
Thus in this project, the natural gas compressors are purchased to pressurise the low pressure gas
available for dehydration purpose as illustrated above.
Goods to be used for:
a. Installed on the site for pressurizing natural gas.
Purpose of Goods:
a. Compress the Natural gas so that it can be dehydrated along with other available gases.
The material is being purchased by Contractor, M/S HAL Off-Shore.
