Started off with this image.

I then rotated it so it was upright


by 90 degrees

Once it was upright I wanted to


darken the edges so it would
match the magazines colour
scheme of being dark and
having black/ navy as the
background colour for the other
pages.

Then, I used the elliptical


marquee tool to select a
circular area of the image
surrounding the cover model.

Then, I selected the inverse tool


so that the part of the image
within the circle wouldnt
change but the part outside would.

To get the vignette effect, where the edges of the image are darker, I edited the
brightness/contrast. I moved it to the left side so that it would darken, instead of
brighten. This gave the effect without interfering with the entire image.
