Dear

& Invisible Children

,

My name is Gianna Sollitto. I am 17 years old and

am a 2013 graduate of Scituate High School and attend the
Community College of Rhode Island. I plan to pursue a
career in nonprofit management and public relations. I
joined the revolution of the Invisible Children 5 years ago.
You have received this letter because I believe you can help
me to become a fundraising rock star!
Invisible Children, founded in 2004, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing a permanent end to
the violence of the Lords Resistance Army (LRA) through media, mobilization, protection and recovery.
The LRA is a rebel army led by warlord Joseph Kony. Kony and the LRA travel central Africa and abduct
women and children. The women and young girls become sex slaves and the young boys become LRA
soldiers. These young abducted boys are brainwashed to become killers; to kill or be killed. The
overwhelming majority of LRA fighters are children who were abducted. They have been terrorizing
multiple countries and regions of central Africa since 1984, making this Africas longest running armed
conflict.
So what can YOU do? By making a tax deductible donation, you can bring the child soldiers home.
Invisible Children has been producing Come Home flyers. These flyers have instructions and advice on
them: how the child soldiers can escape and where they can go, and it assures the children that they will
be accepted back into their community. The flyers are released them from a helicopter over the jungle
where the LRA are supposedly stationed. The best part is: these things actually work. 58 people have
escaped from the bush this year alone, and many of them credit their escape to Come Home flyers.
Enclosed is an actual Come Home flyer. $25 = 25 flyers = 25 opportunities for the children to be free.
With the help of your donations, we can prevent children from being abducted, women from being raped,
people from being killed or mutilated, and communities from severely suffering.
Invisible Children grants the top fundraiser with an all-expenses paid trip to Uganda to witness the effect
of our fundraising efforts first hand. This has been my dream since I was 13 years old. I am asking for
your help to not only bring these children home, but to allow me to get one step closer to achieving my
dream.
To donate to this cause, you can donate to Invisible Children via my personal fundraising page online at
give.invisiblechildren.com/SendGSleetToAfrica. Or, you can use the enclosed pledge card and return
envelope to send a check. Checks can be made out to Gianna Sollitto. Please include Invisible Children
Fundraising in the memo line. All donations are tax deductible. A receipt will be sent to you
electronically if you donate online, and in-print if you donate via the mail. Join the movement of the
Invisible Children by making a one-time donation.

I ask that all donations be received on or before Saturday, December 28, 2013, as this
fundraising semester ends 12/30/13.
$25 covers the cost of 25 Come Home flyers and 25 opportunities to reduce the LRA to
zero soldiers.
$50 gives one person in northern Uganda the opportunity to learn how to read, write, and
handle money for the first time through one of our adult education programs.
$100 connects a remote community in central Africa to security alerts about LRA activity
for 10 days.
$250 provides a Ugandan university student with a mentor who can help them overcome
challenges at school and at home.
$500 funds speakers on one helicopter mission, where messages are played over the
jungle explaining how and where to escape, while releasing flyers.

Whatever your budget will allow is a hugely generous step toward restoring
peace.

Where you live should not determine whether you live. Ones
compassion should extend across the street as well as across the
globe. You and I are a member of a global community. Without
your generosity, these injustices will grow in severity. Thank you
in advance for your support.
Sincerely,

Gianna Sollitto
