To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Douglas Turner and I am would like to express my interest in the Operating
Room Nurse position. I am a new BSN graduate from the University of Arizona. My
supervisory experience, dedication to safety and quality are demands required of an
operating room nurse. I am passionate about serving the men and women of our armed
forces. Due to my preceptorship and clinical rotations at the VA, it has become a passion
and desire to become a part of the VS Healthcare Team.
Prior to pursuing a career as a Registered Nurse, I served as Vice President of Operations
for a construction company. My supervisor and managerial skills comprise 20 years
experience. During clinical rotations, I was granted the privilege to serve the Veterans at
Southern Arizona VA Health Care System. Providing care to clients in Long-Term Care,
Psych Mental Health, and on the Medical Surgical units gave me quality experiences.
Shadowing the operating room nurse during my Medical Surgical unit rotation inspired
me and I would love to serve in this capacity.
The VAs five core values, Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence
which are ingrained and connect with me as an individual and nurse. I was able to utilize
these values in my previous occupation and believe they made me a quality leader. The
University of Arizona BSN program instills these same values throughout the courses and
I believe they are a priority as a nurse.
My managerial experience coupled with my nursing skills, passion for serving veterans,
willingness to learn, dedication and impeccable work ethic would make me a perfect fit
for this position. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to be a part of the VA Health
