seeking massage prior to beginning your pain assessment

which allowed you to narrow down and formulate the direction of your
assessment, and later your massage therapy diagnosis
You received consent prior to performing assessments
Make sure to tell your patient the nature, purpose, risks, contraindication and
benefits of performing specific assessments (For example: vital signs,
postural, orthopaedic tests, etc)
You performed ROM testing appropriate and incorporated SOTs and MMTs that
would confirm you hypothesis

TREATMENT PLANNING

You made the patient aware of the proposed treatment plan. You told them
specifics so that they were aware of your goals as a massage therapy
student. You talked with the patient about:
Treatment frequency, duration and length
Areas you would treat and specific techniques you would use
Risks/benefits of treatment
You obtained consent for treatment plan and treatment
Prior to the beginning of treatment you instructed patient how to get on the
table

TREATMENT & MODALITIES

Took appropriate hygiene precautions pre and post treatment hand washing
You utilized sufficient introductory techniques to warm up the treatment area
You were consistent about asking the patient about their pain scale and
pressure. Great job!
You followed basic standards of practice with concepts such as working
general, specific, general and proximal, distal, proximal

HOME-CARE

You provided the patient with a stretch for their gastrocnemius bilaterally,
which was a great way to incorporate some remedial/therapeutic exercise
into your treatment plan.
