Chapter 1: The Visitor for Sherlock Holmes
1.- Why did Doctor Watson retum to England?
Because Watson retired from the British army for account of the shot in the shoulder
in Afganistn.
2.- How did Sherlock Holmes help his client?
Resolve the problem because he was very happy when he was working..
3.-Why Holmes bored?
Because he cant live without interesting problems and mysteries.
4.-Who was Holmes new client?
His new client was Miss Morstan.

Chapter 2:

Miss Morstan Story

1.-Miss Morstan went to a hotel in London and asked for her father. What did the hotel
manager tell her?
He told Miss Morstan that her father wasnt here, he had gone out last night before
and he not return to the hotel.
2.-What was Captain Morstans job in India?
The captain worked in a prison near the coast of India, in a island.
3.-Who was Major Sholto?
Major Sholto, was the only friend of Captain Morstan that was living in London, him
was former teammate of Captain Morstan
4.- Next day Miss Morstan received a small cardboard box
a) What was in the box?
In cardboard box was one letter of her Unknown friend.
b) How many time did she receive the same sort of box?
She had received five times the some sort box, each sort box with one lovely pearls.
5.- Miss Morstan had come to see Sherlock Holmes because she had received a note.
a) Where was she to go that night at seven oclock?
She going to go at Lyceum Theatre for meet you Unknown friend.
b) Who could she bring with her?
She can bring with her at two friends.

c) How was the note signed?


The note is signed for Unknown friend.
6.-What did Holmes decide to do?
Holmes decide go with Miss Morstan, as her friend together with Doctor Watson

Chapter 3: A Strange Meeting


1.- Why did Holmes think that Major Sholtos death was important?
Because Major Sholto died on 28th april 1882 and the Captain Morstan was in
London, the 4th may 1882.
2.-Miss Morstan showed Holmes a piece of paper.
a) Where had she found it?
She found in her fathers luggage.
b) What was drawn on the paper?
In the paper was drawn a little map.
c) How was the paper signed?
It was signed with one mark of The Sign of Four.
3.- Who did Holmes, Watson and Miss Morstan meet at the Lyceum Theatre?
They met the Unknown friend of letter.
4.-Where did they go?
They go to the house of the strangers master.

Chapter 4: The Death of Major Sholto


1.- Why was Doctor Watson angry with thaddeus Sholto?
Because Thaddeus Sholto did not realize how much it affected to Miss Morstan, him
tell news without care or empathy.
2.- Thaddeus Sholto and his brother, Bartholomew, knew that their father was afraid of
something. Who did their father think was following him?
A man with wooden leg.
3.- Why did their father became very ill?
Because,after receiving a letter that came from India, he began ill.
4.-When Captain Morstan and Major Sholto were in India they found a great treasure.
a) What was the name of the treasure?
The Great Agra Treasure.

b) Why did Captain Morstan and Major Sholto argue?


Because, Major Sholto dont wanted to give Captain Morstan anything.
c) How did the argument end?
What Agra Treasure created discord between Captain Morstan and Major Sholto. Major
Sholto bought one house in North of London after returning to England.
5.-What did Major Sholto ask his sons to do?
He asked his children listened carefully and he told them where he had hidden the Agra
Treasure.
6.-Thaddeus and his brother, Bartholomew found a note on the bed beside their fathers
body. What words were written on the note?
The note had written the following words The Sign of Four .

Chapter 5:

The Great Agra Treasure

1-Why did Thaddeus Sholto send the letter to Miss Morstan?


Thaddeus Sholto send the letter to Miss Morstan because he and his brother Bartholomew
sholto found the treasure whose his father searched when was alive, the great Agra
Treasure. Also His father wanted them to share the treasure with her.
2-Where was the treasure?
The treasure was in the house of his father in a secret room under the roof.
3-Why was Doctor Watson unhappy?
Doctor Watson was unhappy because Miss Morstan became a rich woman, and he had
fallen in love with she but he didn't have very much money. For this reason he could not ask
her to marry him.
4-Where did Thaddeus Sholto take Miss Morstan, Holmes and Watson?
He took them to his father's house in Pondicherry Lodge where his brother was waiting
them for show them the treasure.
5-Where had Bartholomew Sholto found the treasure chest?
Bartholomew Sholto had found the treasure chest in a secret room under the roof. He made
a hole in the ceiling of the room on the top floor for could found this little room.

Chapter 6: A Terrible Murder


1- What did Holmes and Watson see through the keyhole?
They saw face of Bartholomew Sholto, he had a horrible smile on his face and he don't
moving because he was already dead.
2- How did Bartholomew Sholto die?
He died of poisoning. A poisonous thorn was stuck in his ear.
3- What else made Thaddeus Sholto upset?
He gave a cry because the treasure wasn't in the ceiling. It had been stolen.
Captulo 7: The Tiny Footprints
1- How did Holmes know that a man with a wooden leg had been in the room?
Because some were footprints, but some were in the shape of small circles.
2- How did Watson think the wooden-legged man had got into the room?
The wooden-legged man wasn't alone, because the room was very high up and he in your
condition is very difficult climb. Someone else had been here too.
3- What was strange about the footprints in the thick dust?
They were the prints of bare feet. But they were not the footprints of an ordinary man. They
were extremely small.
4- Describe murdered Number One
He is a very small man, is a pygmy, from some foreign land. He is also extremely
dangerous. He kills people by shooting them with poisoned thorns.
Captulo 8: Inspector Jones Makes an arrest
1- Why did the murderers kill Major Sholto and Bartholomew Sholto?
They wanted the treasure. Bartholomew Sholto was sitting in this room with the treasure.
The pygmy came in through the roof and saw him. The only way to get the treasure was to
kill Sholto.
2- Why was Holmes pleased that one of the murderers had stepped in the creosote?
Because Holmes know a dog which loves the smell of creosote. It will follow this smell for
miles and miles. It will help you find the killers.
3- Why did Inspector Jones not want to listen to Sherlock Holmes?
Because he thought his own ideas were better.

4- Who did Inspector Jones think the murderer was?


He think that Thaddeus Sholto killed his brother and he ran off with the jewels.
Captulo 9: The Dog That Loved Creosote
1- What two things did Holmes asks Watson to do?
First, take Miss Morstan home
Second, go to this address - 3 Pinchin Lane. Ask for Mr Sherman. He has an old dog called
Toby. I want you to bring Toby here.
2- What was special about the dog, Toby?
It had very long ears and very short legs and its eyes were large and sad. The dog looked
very strange.
3- How did the pygmy get up on to the roof of the Pondicherry Lodge?
He used that drain-pipe. The drain-pipe ran all the way down from the roof to the garden
below. There was a large barrel full of water under the end of the drain-pipe.
4- Hes on the trail! cried Holmes. What trail had Toby found?
He had found his favorite smell - the smell of creosote. Which would him to the pygmy.
Captulo 10: The Hunt Begins
1- Why was Toby not able to follow the trail when they got to the River Thames?
He did not know what to do. They had got into a boat and Toby can't follow them.
2- Where had Mordecai Smith gone?
She don't know, his husband has went in the aurora yesterday morning.
3- Who had gone with him?
He went with a wooden-legged man.

4- Why was Mrs Smith worried?


Because she doesn't trust that wooden-legged man.

Chapter 11: Mystery on the River


1.-Why did Holmes not want to contact the police?
Because, Holmes didnt want the criminals to know that anyone was looking to them.
2.-What did Homes show Watson in the newspaper?
Holmes showed a report about the murder of Bartholomew Sholto at Pondicherry Lodge.
3.-Why did the ragged children make such good agents for Holmes?
Because, they can go anywhere, see everything, hear everything because nobody is afraid
of children.

Chapter 12: Inspector Jones Receives a Telegram


1.-Doctor Watson went to tell Miss Morstan that they had not found the treasure. That night
he could not sleep. What was Watson thinking about?
Doctor Watson was thinking about Miss Morstan, he wanted to ask her to marry.
2.-How had Inspector Jones changed?
The inspector Jones changed compared to two days ago, said Watson. He was regretful
and worried about making a bad mistake.
3.-Where were the Aurora hidden?
The Aurora had been hidden in a boatyard near the river.
4.-What were the murderers planning to do?
The plan of the murderers were that the two gentlemen carry off the Aurora to America, they
would deliver the Aurora at eight oclock that night.

Captulo 13: The Chase on the River


1.- Suddenly a launch came out of the boatyard. How did know that it was the Aurora?
Holmes and the inspectors waited until it was eight oclock for other launch.
2.- We fired our guns together. Why did Holmes and Watson shoot at the pygmy?
Because, the pygmy ignored the order Holmes gave me.
3.- What happened to the pygmy?
The pygmy fell backwards into the water with a terrible cry and had landed in the soft wet
mud of the river.
4.-Why was the wooden- legged man not able to escape?
Because the wooden-legged had landed in the soft, wet mud of the river bank and couldnt
move. They went towards the wooden-legged and threw him a rope.Then we pulled him up
over the side of our launch.
5.-What did Holmes and Watson think was in the big, heavy chest?
They were think that in the bag heavy was contained the Agra treasure.
6.-How had Holmes and Watson escaped a horrible death?
Watson poisoned thoms it was fixed in the wood where they had been standing. the
poisoned thom had passed through the air between their.

Captulo 14: The Treasure is Lost


1.-Who was Jonathan Small?
Jonathan Small is a The Sign of Four. He is a friend of Captain Morstan and of the others
who found the Agra Treasure.

2.-Why did Watson not want to take the treasure to Miss Morstan?
Because, Watson didnt want Miss Morstan to become a rich woman.
3.- Why was Watson much happier after the chest had been opened?
Because, the chest of treasure was empty and Watson the can would ask : you to marry
meto Miss Morstan.

Captulo 15: The Sign of Four


1.-What had happened to the Great Agra Treasure?
No one else will have it. I threw it all to the bottom of the river. Said Jonathan Small.
2.-Who were the Sign of Four? Where did they meet?
The Sign of Four were the four British soldiers that found the Agra treasure for first time;J.
Small, M.Singh, A. Khan y D. Akbar.They were meeting in a fortress in india.
3.-How did Jonathan Small meet Captain Morstan and Major Sholto?
Captain Morstan and Major Sholto were meeting Jonathan Small in the Andaman Island,
prison of India.
4.Holmes said, The Agra Treasure has at last brought happiness to someone.To whom
had it brought happiness?
He had brought happiness to Watson because he managed to marry Miss Morstan.
