"Expanding access to energy means including 2.4 billion people: 1.

4 billion that
still has no
access to electricity (87% of whom live in the rural areas) and 1 billion that o
nly has access to
unreliable electricity networks. We need smart and practical approaches because
energy, as a driver
of development, plays a central role in both fighting poverty and addressing cli
mate change. The
implications are enormous: families forego entrepreneurial endeavors, children c

dark, health clinics do not function properly, and women are burdened with time
consuming chores
such as pounding grain or hauling water, leaving them with less time to engage i
n income generating
activities. Further, it is estimated that kitchen smoke leads to around 1.5 mill
ion premature deaths
every year, more than the number of deaths from malaria each year. After gaining
access to energy,
households generate more income, are more productive and are less hungry, furthe

Millennium Development Goal's progress
The power consumption is at its peak during 6-10 pm. Thus it is essential to re
duce the power
load during the peak hours. The Power GIS is an effective tool which controls the
energy
consumption below a particular threshold level. Based on the requirements of the
user, a convenient
threshold is set and the power consumption is regulated below this value. If the
power consumption
increases beyond the threshold, the total load increases above the threshold, th
e system sheds the load
according to a predetermined priority set by the user. Or in other words if the
demand achieves more
than the maximum value it will informed by using an alarm, also automatically cu
t-off the low
priority loads and if the demand becomes below minimum voltage it will also info
rmed and power on
the high priority loads one by one. Besides regulating the peak power demand it
has other advantages
like reducing power theft.
Here we are introducing a new automatic demand controller. Maximum demand contro
ller is
a device designed to meet the need of homes conscious of the value of load manag
ement. If the
demand achieves more than the maximum value it will be additional feature, it is
an automatic intelligent system designed for guarding illegal looping of
Electricity. Proposed system consists of a field unit and head end unit. Field u
nit will be placed in
consumer premises and the head end unit can be placed in any of the electricity
controlling offices.
Electricity reaches homes from the distribution hub. Field units monitor the pow
er usage of respective
customer premises. This unit also integrates a transmitter. It will transmit the
power usage in real time
to the head end system. Every field units placed under different distribution hu
bs monitors and
transmits the power usage this way.
Maximum Demand Controller can be treated as three sections, Input section, Micro
controller
section, and the Cutoff section. Input section mainly consists of a Current sens

or and a Potential
transformer for reading out the current and voltage on timely basis and inputtin
g those values to the
Microcontroller for calculating the Demand. The Microcontroller section compares
this demand with
a preset value which is set by an authorized person. And a cutoff command is giv
en to the Cutoff
section .A PC is connected to the microcontroller for altering the priority of t
he loads. The Cutoff
section consists of a number of Relays, MCB, and the load and is meant for cutti
ng off the load.
Power Theft Monitoring Section is meant for finding the illegal looping of power
. It is
categorized into to two sections viz. Energy theft detection unit (Transmitter S
ection) located at
consumer s place and centralized detection and display unit using Microcontroller
(Receiver Section)
located at electrical sub-station, where the anti- power theft squad of the Stat
e Electricity Department
monitor system continuously. Substation or Head end system consist of a receiver
, microcontroller,
and a display. Home section comprises of a transmitter, microcontroller, and rel
ay. The data is
transmitted from home section to substation if the microcontroller indentifies t
he theft. The alarm or
buzzer rings when the data, indicating theft, is received in the substation sect
ion. The data is encoded
and sent through RF transmitter and is received at the substation end with the h
elp of an RF receiver
and the data is decoded to the suitable form.
Tariff Analyzer is meant for analyzing and predicting the tariff of the concerne
d user.
Microcontroller, DTMF keyboard, DTMF Coder and Decoder, Energy meter modules, Al
arm, and
Display are the major blocks in this analyzer. DTMF keyboard is for providing or
setting a threshold
amount that the user can afford. As the DTMF keyboard can t additional feature, it
