COMPENSATION ‘A. The selery for ne Superintendent forthe fstyear of employment pursuant this Contract shall be One Hundred Twenly Thousand and 00/100 Dollars {$120 900) This salary is comprised of $107,388 in stale superintendent salary funds. The local fotion of the salary is comprised of $12,612. The Siperntendent shall rimburse the Board forthe cost of any personal telephone cals, texts or other use ofthe devee in excess of any monthly sevice mis. The Superintendent shall be sally responsible for any personal federal, stale or local tax expenses associated withthe Supernsnden’s use of the school system vehicle and any reimbursement for travel ©. PROFESSIONAL GROWTH OF SUPERINTENDENT. The Board expecs the Superintendent fo continue hee professional development and expects her {0 paticpate in relevant learning experences. The Boad shal pay up to Two 5 Thousand Five Hundred and 00/100 Dolla ($2500) annually for professional evelopment and continuing education 8. The Superintendent should attend appropriate professional meetings at the local and state level, and outot-state me ee with the prior approval ofthe Chaiperson ofthe Board. The actual expenses of said sitendance wil be paid fom the curent operating funds of he Bertie County Schools in an amount and manner prescribed by Board policy The Superintendent shal fle itemized expense statements wih he finance office for reimbursement of at expenses in this secton in accordance with Board Policy. The Chairperson of the Bosrd shall rave authority to approve such reimbursement, Requests for reimbursements of actual expenses in excess of Board approved per diem must be adequately documented and approved by the Chairperson ofthe Board 7. EVALUATION, The Board shall meet with the Superintendent annually identity te Superintendent's annual performance goals. The Board shall provide the Superiniendent with periodic opportunities to discuss Superinlendent-Board telatonsnips. The Board shall srovide the Superintondent with a written annual ‘evaluation of her performance detived rom the North Carolina Slate Superintendent Evaluation process, to! end crieia which has been adopied by the North Carling State Board of Education beginning withthe 2013-14 school yaar. 8. PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY. A statement from a icensed physician of the Superintendents choke, crtitying tothe physical competency of the Superintendent to {ull her duties and responsibities, shall be fied with the Chairperson of the Board and treated as conftental information by the Board, and ifthe Board deoms it necessary. ‘he Supernendent agrees lo authorize her physician to provide he Board with a copy of the complete results of her medica! examination. In the event of illness, the Superintendent, upon request by the Board, shall furnish adddonal writen medical ‘records fo he Board and these shall be treated as confidential information. 10. DISABILITY. CONSULTING AND OUTSIDE EMPLOYMENT. The Superintendent shall net ‘accept any outside employment hatin any manner interferes withthe performance ct her duties and respansibies as Superintendent ofthe Berle County Schools The Superintendent may, however, accep! speaking engagements and may accett appointments to foundations, boards, or commissions that do not ilerfore withthe Performance of her dlls under his Agreement 14. CONFLICT OF INTEREST PROHIBITED. The Superintendent ‘cknom'edges that she has read and understand the cont of inerest statutes of the Stale of North Carona and agrees to comply withthe statutes and any cher Stale tat 6 Board poices relating to contts of interest. 15. TERMINATION OF EMPLOYMENT. A transcipt ofthe reco of the proceedings before the Board shall be made avaliable without charge to the Superintendent i the Board elects to terminate the Superintendent 16, UNILATERAL TERMINATION BY THE BOARD. The Board may. at ts opton, unatrally terminate this ntact. In the event of such termination the Board shal pay to the Superintendent, 85 severance pay, the aggregate salary she would have earned pursuant o Section 4A of this Coniat for the upcoming sik (6) month of the Contact or the remaining time of the Contact. whichever is fss. lf however, the ‘Board unateraly terminates this Contact within tho fist twelve months of employment, the Superintendent shall be entitled to the aggregate salary she would have earned pursuant to Section 4A, of this Contract forthe upcoming nine (9) months of the Contract. RESIGNATION. The Superintendent shall give at least ninety (20) calendar days’ writen notice to he Board # she intends to resign oro othe end ofthe form of ins contact of e sens thereto, In the event that she fas (0 give the ‘eauired notice, the Superintendent agrees to pay the Board Ten Thousand Oolas (510,000) which the patos agrees a reasonable and proper measure of damages that, Wil be incured by the Board by an untimely resignation by the Superintendent Furthermore, the Board, ints soe dscretion, may terminate this Contract at any tme 10 ater the Superiniendent has given watten notice that she intends to sig prior tothe end of her ferm of employment_In such event the Superintendent shal be ented tobe Pid through the date of her resignation and paid for any unused slate accrued annual leave, the provisions of Sections 18 and 17 of tis Contract shall not apply and, i the Superintendent has given 80 daye' prior writen notice of resignation, the $10,000 Gamage payment described abo shall be waived. In addition, if an unexpected severe medical condition or emergency arses that citecty involves the Superintendent or her spouse which reverts the Superintendent tom gwing 60 days’ prior writen ‘obce of esignaton, he $10,000 damage payment described above shall be waved 18, APPLICABLE LAW.
