My name is Miss Tobin, and I will be observing and
interacting with your child's second grade classroom. I am currently a senior at Northern State University majoring in Elementary Education with minors in Spanish and Early Childhood Education and an endorsement in Kindergarten Education. I also just finished my last season as a member of the NSU volleyball team. I am originally from Aberdeen and I am so excited that I was able to attend college here, as well. It is such a wonderful opportunity to complete my Pre-Student Teaching Field Experience with this second grade class! This pre-student teaching experience was presented to us in order for us to gain more of an understanding and comfort within the classroom setting, as teacher candidates. I will be expected to observe and interact with the second graders for 30 total hours during a three week period. I will be in your childs classroom Monday-Thursday mornings for the first week and a half, and Monday-Thursday afternoons for the second week and a half. While in the classroom, I will assist Mrs. Carr with daily activities, grading, lessons, and anything else she requests of me. I am required to complete one observed lesson during this Pre-Student Teaching Field Experience, and I will do so on November 28 th in the subject of math. My final day in the classroom will be December 6th. The final requirement asked of me by Northern State University, is a Teacher Work Sample packet that will include all of the details from my experience. From this experience, I hope to gain various teaching strategies, lesson ideas, classroom management approaches, and a better overall understanding of how to run my own classroom someday. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your childs educational experience; I cant wait to see the wonderful things these students do in the future!
